Item Description

HELLO AND WELCOME TO MY ONE OFF WEDNESDAY NIGHT AUCTIONS ENDING LATE WEDNESDAY 1ST OCTOBER As many people may already know, I usually end all my items on Sunday nights and these will still continue However as I had quite a few extra items of UTMOST RARITY come in to me this week they really are TOP QUALITY, and NOT cheap overstock and completely ran out of time to list them last Sunday - I decided to do a one off set of listings of Wednesday auctions ending on Wednesday 1st October So PLEASE NOTE that this auction will end late on Wednesday 1st October and NOT Sunday - though of course, I will be putting more auctions on during the week for next Sundays auctions And please don t forget take a look at my other auctions, as there really is some AMAZING items listed Thanks for reading and please take a look at this AMAZING item below:- On offer here is a VERY rare LP especially in this condition by Deep Purple called Shades Of Deep Purple and is an ORIGINAL 1968 UK MONO 1st Pressing on the 1st Press Yellow Black Parlophone label THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND THIS WAS DEEP PURPLE S FIRST RAREST LP EVER - AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE BACK IN 1968 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED - IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS, AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED AS A RESULT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO LOCATE TODAY BUT WHAT MAKES THIS LP REALLY SPECIAL IS THAT IT IS 1ST PRESSED IN MEGA RARE MONO AND THIS IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ON THIS LP WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED IN THE UK BACK IN 1968, NEARLY EVERY 1ST PRESSING WAS MADE IN COMMON STEREO - WITH VIRTUALLY NONE IN MEGA RARE MONO AT ALL MOST SHOPS HAD LONG SINCE STOPPED STOCKING MONOs BY THIS POINT - AND THEY WERE ONLY AVAILABLE BY SPECIAL ORDER ONLY AS A RESULT, FINDING A 1ST PRESSING OF THIS INCREDIBLE LP IN MEGA RARE MONO IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE - AS BARELY ANY WERE EVER MADE NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THIS LP IS STILL VERY SOLID PRESENTABLE AND PLAYS FINE AND THE RECORD IS STILL VERY BRIGHT SHINY, THE COVER HAS NO MAJOR DEFECTS AT ALL - AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO JUMPS AND NO STICKS AT ALL JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1968 UK MONO 1ST PRESSING ON THE 1ST PRESS YELLOW BLACK PARLOPHONE LABEL, 1ST PRESS 1/1 MONO MATRIX ENDINGS, 1ST PRESS PATENTS APPLIED FOR BLACK ADVERTISING INNER SLEEVE, AND 1ST PRESS GARROD LOFTHOUSE FLIPBACK LAMINATED PATENTS PENDING MONO COVER THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE ESPECIALLY IN MEGA RARE MONO - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY This is the ORIGINAL UK 1st Pressing from 1968 and is SERIOUSLY rare in EVERY respect The Cat.
No is PMC 7055 on the ORIGINAL 1st Press Yellow Black Parlophone label see picture and is a much MUCH rarer UK MONO 1st Pressing All the tracks are Pure quality Deep Purple at their best Any fan of Deep Purple, or 60s music in general, will want to have this in their collection The record labels are in SUPERB condition see pictures with NO wear apart from the TINY touch around the centre holes , NO writing, and only a few VERY light spindle marks However - this record is simple to describe.
It is what is commonly termed in the record collecting world as a decent player .
I.e.
it plays through fine - with NO jumps, and NO sticks - but has a few visual imperfections on either side However almost ALL of these visual details are LIGHT and do NOT affect play in the slightest And the sound quality itself is still pretty good in superb MONO However, although the record is still VERY bright and shiny, there are a few hairlines, 2 or 3 TINY surface marks, 2 or 3 careless fingernail scufflines, and a few of the lightest paper scuffs only visible under light That said as mentioned before the record still plays through FINE - with NO skips, only a few light clicks, NO sticking, NO jumps, and barely ANY crackle AT ALL There is some expected background sound on the run on grooves gaps - though this is lost WAY behind ALL but the VERY quietest parts of the music ONLY and as 99 of this LP is very VERY loud indeed, this means there are barely ANY quiet parts AT ALL The sound quality is simply SUPERB with NO distortion and NO groovewear either So if you want a VERY decent presentable and still bright shiny example to play - and can live with a few marks on either side, then this is definitely worth considering And of course, its rarity factor can NOT be understated - especially in MONO That said - I will only MEGA STRICTLY give this record the lowest possible grading of a record that does not jump - Fair PROPERLY graded, NOT wrecked if not better That said, I suspect many would grade higher still So definitely still a VERY presentable copy - which still plays through FINE Believe me this record is NOT overgraded in ANY way I use STRICT RC grading standards - it is not in my interest not to Brillant SO ALTHOUGH THIS RECORD ISNT 100 PERFECT - IT IS A VERY SOLID, PLAYABLE, PRESENTABLE EXAMPLE, AND ALSO OF THE UTMOST RARITY AND SO BEFORE YOU THINK OF PASSING ON THIS LP - JUST ASK YOUSELF, WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE ONE OF THESE IN MEGA RARE MONO, AND WHEN ARE YOU EVER LIKELY TO SEE ANOTHER ONE AGAIN???? The record also comes in its ORIGINAL 1st Press EMI Advertising Patents Applied For inner sleeve which is in BRILLIANT condition The ORIGINAL 1st Press Garrod Lofthouse Flipback Laminated Patents Pending MONO Cover is in GREAT condition - with NO major defects AT ALL It has NO edge wear, NO spinal wear, only slight corner wear NOT through the colour , only a few light creases cover is still VERY flat looking , NO rips, NO tears, shiny laminate, only some VERY minor evidence of tipping in to the corners and the odd trace down the opening edge , NO annotations, NO splits,.and NO writing The opening edge is still nice and straight with barely ANY feathering Even the unlaminated back of the cover is in GREAT condition with NO grubbyness, NO ringwear, barely ANY rubbing AT ALL, NO yellowing, and NO writing There is also a small sticker at the very top on the cover back - which may be removeable.
However it is extremely minor, and as removal may cause serious damage to the cover or they may be something underneath it - I didnt bother to attempt it.
Either way it is EXTREMELY minor, and I would certainly leave well alone.
The cover must grade Very Good Minus PROPERLY graded, NOT trashed if not Very Good - and is still a VERY decent cover indeed, with NO major defects AT ALL THIS LP MAY NOT BE 100 MINT BUT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE ESPECIALLY IN MEGA RARE MONO - AND THIS IS A VERY SOLID, PRESENTABLE PLAYABLE EXAMPLE - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY HAVE A LOOK AT MY PICTURES - I DO MY BEST TO SHOW THE RECORD FROM ALL ANGLES AND MAKE THE PICTURES AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE - THERE IS NOTHING TO HIDE It really is a GREAT looking LP and it is truly rare to find any copies of this RARE LP THIS WILL BE YOUR ONLY CHANCE TO BUY AN ORIGINAL 1968 UK MONO 1ST PRESSING OF SHADES OF DEEP PURPLE BY DEEP PURPLE Dont forget to take a look at all my other items including many other TOP LPs and contact me with any queries you may have.

MY POSTAGE UNDERCHARGE GUARANTEE TO ALL BUYERS I always undercharge on postage :- Due to UK Royal Mail s obscene price increases this year - I have had no choice but to increase postage charges a little.
Until this year - I had kept them exactly the same since I joined ebay back in 2002.
However this years price increases have been so obscene, that I have had no choice but to increase my postage charges for the first time ever.
However PLEASE NOTE - my absolute 100 guarantee to you as a buyer - is that I will ALWAYS undercharge postage on everything I send out.
Even after the increases, I am still charging you the buyer LESS than I am being charged myself.
On each package I send out - the price is clearly stated on the front of the package please check it when you recieve it .
I also do NOT charge for packaging costs - ONLY for postal costs And should you find that I have overcharged you postage in ANY way - I will refund DOUBLE the difference.
THAT IS MY 100 POSTAL GUARANTEE FOR EACH AND EVERY BUYER No buyer EVER deserves to be overcharged on postage - and on my listings, I ll make sure they are ALWAYS undercharged.
Any questions - please ask
