Item Description

Shades of Deep Purple vinyl LP, original first pressing.
This is the rock group s debut album, released in 1968 on Parlophone records EMI .
It includes the single Hush .
The band were little known at the time and the record was largely overlooked, so original copies of it are rare indeed.
This copy is in Mono, not Stereo, which makes it particularly rare, and the G designation on the stampers denotes the earliest possible pressing.
Catalogue number PMC 7055 Matrix numbers stamped on the run-out XEX 689-1 G, XEX 690-1 G.
The cover is really very decent for its age.
There is the most trivial of creasing at the edges an almost inevitable result of imperfect lamination technology .
There is some minor wear to the edges and some minor bumping at the corners.
The spine is excellent bar one tiny blemish.
There is a small tear on the top overlap on the back, but the flap has been repaired.
There is a very mild ring mark from the disc.
In the space on the back underneath the list of five band members is written in neat blue biro David Hargreaves owns the record .
In the very bottom right hand corner on the back is also neatly written david .
Altogether this cover has been treated with care.
The black/white/yellow labels are both unblemished.
There is some light spindle marking, but nothing dramatic or unexpected.
The disc itself is very well preserved.
Every track has a short sonic introduction of 10 seconds or so which bears no relation to the song which then follows this was the experimental late 60s, remember On this introduction to Side One Track One there is a slight click which lasts for a few seconds and then fades out before the song proper gets started.
Apart from this there are no other imperfections, whether ticks, pops, scratches or anything else.
Remarkable.
The sound is clear and crisp.
Overall this a fine copy of a particularly rare and sought after album by one of the world s most admired groups.
