Because our clients are mostly jazz collectors and connoisseurs, as we are, we made it our policy to only sell albums that we grade in VERY GOOD VG condition or better.

This record is from our personal collection. We purchased it in 1958. It has been very well maintained, always kept at the proper temperature and in a plastic sleeve.

Record Grade VG Very well maintained. We just listened to the whole album with headphones on. It is a great album. Plays smooth. There are no skips, no jumps, and no interuptions. There are the occasional minor pops from the surface scratches and age, but not much. It is one of our favorite records and we played it a lot, but we take good care of our collection. Amazing condition and quality. The record plays and sounds beautiful. Shiny vinyl. Difficult to find this rare vintage record in such great condition. see pictures

Jacket Grade VG Shiny, clean, No seem splits, no tape. Looks great on the shelf. Minor corner dings from our normal use. Small letters VZ handwritten lower right rear cover. There are 2 stickers front cover and label that say Musikhaus Hummel , a famous music store in Frankfurt Germany. A beautiful jacket for a 57 year old album. One of our nicest kept covers. see pictures

This was Art Blakey s first album for Blue Note in several years, after a period of recording for various labels, and marked both a homecoming and a fresh start. Originally the LP was self-titled, but the instant popularity of the bluesy opening track Moanin by pianist Bobby Timmons led to its becoming known by that title.

On Halloween 1958, Art Blakey s Moanin BLP 4003 became the last Blue Note album ever to be recorded to full-track tape by Van Gelder.
