WHAT IS A JAPAN "MINI/REPLICA-LP-SLEEVE" CD?
Have you ever lamented the loss of one of the 20th Century's great art forms, the 12" vinyl LP jacket? Then "mini-LP-sleeve" CD's may be for you.
Mini-sleeve CDs are manufactured in Japan under license. The disc is packaged inside a 135MM X 135MM cardboard precision-miniature replica of the original classic vinyl-LP album. Also, anything contained in the original LP, such as gatefolds, booklets, lyric sheets, posters, printed LP sleeves, stickers, embosses, special LP cover paper/inks/textures and/or die cuts, are precisely replicated and included. An English-language lyric sheet is always included, even if the original LP did not have printed lyrics.
Then, there's the sonic quality: Mini-sleeves have dedicated remastering (20-Bit, 24-Bit, DSD, K2/K2HD, and/or HDCD), and can often be superior to the audio on the same title anywhere else in the world. There also may be bonus tracks unavailable elsewhere.
Each Japan mini-sleeve has an "obi" ("oh-bee"), a removable Japan-language promotional strip. The obi lists the Japan street date of that particular release, the catalog number, the mastering info, and often the original album's release date. Bonus tracks are only listed on the obi, maintaining the integrity of the original LP artwork. The obi's are collectable, and should not be discarded.
All mini-sleeve releases are tremendouslylimited editions mainly pressed on future orders only and once released immediately out of print. This fact along with other latter features we've mentioned make these titles rare collectibles that sell in the collectors markets for $100's of dollars apiece. Japanese digitally re-mastered Mini LP replica Limited Edition Collection with OBI sash down the front – onlyVERY FEWpieces made world-wide and are immediately Out of Print. Recorded from the finest Original Masters available. Comes with anti-static sleeves similar to Vinyl LPs, Cardboard packaging like an LP. Actual miniaturized version of the 12” LP in 4” CD version

Album Notes
SPACE ODDITY was originally released as MAN OF WORDS, MAN OF MUSIC on Mercury in 1969.SPACE ODDITY is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.Personnel: David Bowie (vocals, 12-string guitar, organ, stylophone, kalimba); Keith Christmas (acoustic guitar); Tim Renwick, Mick Wayne (guitar); Paul Buckmaster (cello); Tony Visconti (flute, recorder, bass); Benny Marshall and Friends (harmonica); Rick Wakeman (electric harpsichord, Mellotron); John Lodge, Herbie Flowers (bass); Terry Cox, John Cambridge (drums).Producers: Gus Dudgeon, Tony Visconti.Engineers: Ken Scott, Malcolm Toft, Barry Sheffield.Digitally remastered by Peter Mew & Nigel Reeve (1999, Abbey Road Studios, London, England).SPACE ODDITY was the first record on which David Bowie looked and sounded like the Bowie whom the world has come to know. One glance at the spooky, androgynous face that adorns the record was enough to signal that the Anthony Newley-influenced, light-pop singer who sang the novelty number "The Laughing Gnome" a few years earlier was a thing of the past. Leaving behind the mannered, English music hall-isms of his initial recordings, Bowie roughened up the sound, creating a ragged, eclectic mix of folk and rock tinged with electronic sounds. The record yielded his first American hit, and began the singer's soon-to-be meteoric rise to international rock icon-hood.The title track, a sci-fi mini-epic, is an enduring classic in which Bowie squeezes every bit of drama from both his dour low range and the soaring upper reaches of his voice. Even after decades of continued airplay, "Space Oddity" is surprising for its intricate arrangement, nifty guitar playing, and palpable sense of interplanetary estrangement. Other fine and lesser-known musical moments include the sublimely subdued "Letter to Hermione," and the sprawling and strange "Memory of a Free Festival."

Album Notes
Personnel: David Bowie (vocals, guitar, saxophone, piano); Mick Ronson (vocals, guitar, piano); Trevor Bolder (bass); Mick Woodmansey (drums).Principally recorded at Trident Studios, London, England.Every track on ZIGGY STARDUST & THE SPIDERS FROM MARS sounds like it was pulled from the rock 'n' roll bible. The album created a mythology that reached beyond the Chuck Berry folklorisms of the everyday rocker to create a new type of rock star. With ZIGGY, Bowie created a viable alter-ego to descend onto the planet and wreak havoc on rock's fertile soil. In doing so, he created the most original rock creation since the music's inception 20 years before.Musically, the album was as inspired as Ziggy's persona. Mick Ronson's snarling guitar evoked the triumphant power of the late '60s guitar heroes, but added a flash so dynamic fans knew why the Spiders were labelled "glitter rockers." As an album, ZIGGY STARDUST told the story of rock through the eyes of Ziggy, an alien--with a narrative that was equally sensational and intimate.Any doubts as to Bowie's intentions to take over rock were displaced on a closer listen to "Star." At the end of the song Bowie (as Ziggy) whispers, "just watch me now," and his determination is eerily obvious. Combining skills as a mime artist and top-rate vocal dramatist, Bowie created Ziggy, the bisexual space man, who sang "songs of darkness and disgrace." The planet was dying, something made evident on the first track "Five Years," and the only way to survive was to "Hang On To Yourself."In the end, "they had to break up the band," according to the tale told in ZIGGY STARDUST, but the inevitably tragic strains of this "Rock 'N' Roll Suicide" had left their mark on the dying planet. They are still being felt today.

David Bowie The Next Day 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION2LP SET& CD

Michael Fremer Rated 10/10 Music, 9/10 Sonics in his May 2013 reviews on analogplanet.!
180 Gram Double Vinyl Cut at Masterdisk by Alex DeTurk!
Music Icon David Bowie Releases 24th Studio Album! 17 New Songs!
David Bowie's 24th studio album, produced by long-time collaborator Tony Visconti, was announced on Bowie's 66th birthday. "Where Are We Now?" is the first single from his first album of original material in 10 years.
Working in secret, Bowie and producer Tony Visconti recorded the album over a two year period, spending about 3 months actually writing and recording the album.
In recent years, radio silence has been broken only by endless speculation, rumor and wishful thinking. A new record - who would have ever though it? Who'd have ever dreamed it? After all, David Bowie is the kind of artist who writes and performs what he wants when he wants...when he has something to say as opposed to something to sell. With "The Next Day", he definitely has something to say. Now we all know, David Bowie has been in the recording studio - just when we least expected it.
Throwing shadows and avoiding the industry treadmill is very David Bowie despite his extraordinary track record that includes album sales in excess of 130 million; not to mention his massive contributions in the area of art, fashion, style, sexual exploration, and social commentary. It goes without saying that he has sold out stadiums and broken ticket records throughout the world during this most influential of careers.
According to producer Visconti, "The material is so strong and beautiful - if people are looking for classic Bowie they'll find that on this album, but if they're looking for innovative Bowie, they'll find that on this album too. It's all there."
"This persistent, well-manicured nostalgia could account for the startling warmth that exudes from The Next Day; even when a melody sighs with an air of resigned melancholia, as it does on "Where Are We Now?," it never delves into sadness, it stays afloat in a warm, soothing bath... The Next Day neither enhances nor diminishes anything that came before, it's merely a sweet coda to a towering career." - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic., 3.5/5 Stars!!
"[H]e confronts it [morbidity] head on with a series of songs about death and violence, shootings and suicides, war and no peace... Bowie serves up the gorgeous 'Where Are We Now'—a reminiscence only an older man could have written and one that will resonate most richly with older listeners but with younger ones too. The Bowie/Visconti team can still bring the chills... The production and sound you ask? Well Bowie and Visconti didn’t produce this epic on the cheap and their sonic bona fides cannot be questioned... [T]he sound is pretty damn good by modern standards and the mix and production are stellar. There’s a lot to dig into and the recording’s overall clarity and reverberant warmth invite you in... Highly recommended to all but especially Bowie fans who have lost their way." - Michael Fremer, analogplanet. Music 10/10, Sound 9/10
"Bowie remains in fine voice, and his songwriting is so consistent that, of the 17 tracks that appear on the vinyl release... the quality remains high throughout, with 'Valentine's Day' and 'I'd Rather Be High' taking top honors. The crunchy electric guitar and propulsive rhythms of The Next Day (which was mixed to tape with many backing tracks recorded live) seem tailor-made for vinyl, and two of the bonus cuts qualify as essential. 'So She' proves that Bowie can still pen exotic art-pop confections while the alternate closing track 'I'll Take You There' reminds you that this is first and foremost a rock 'n' roll album." - Jeff Wilson, The Absolute Sound, September 2013, Music 4/5, Sonics 4/5
