Item Description

Robbie West Coast Consortium

Indigo Spring - Listen to the Man

1967

DESCRIPTION

The rarest West Coast Consortium single of all - near impossible to find - here in excellent condition, promo copy with company sleeve.

Released on UK Pye 7N 17370 September 1967. A-side Indigo Spring T. Macaulay/R.Bush and B-side Listen to the Man Simpson . Accompaniment directed by John Macleod for release. This is a rare single by Robbie Fair lead singer of West Coast Consortium released just after the group s first: Some Other Sunday . Even though the entire group played on both recordings Tony Macaulay wanted it released under the name Robbie. And so it was. Here is Geoff Simpson s quote: We d record a couple of songs in the studio with Tony, and we d work equally hard on both, but ultimately Tony always decided at the very last minute that his song was just that little bit more commercial and should be the A-side But it was all right-we just wanted to record. Putting that single out in Robbie s name was Tony s idea really. He told us that it was a rush release so he couldn t change any of the label credits, but it was primarily a vehicle for Robbie anyway, though it was still a West Coast Consortium recording.
