· THE BEATLES - MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR - ULTRA-RARE 1967 CAPITOL/APPLE STEREO LP SMAL-2835 (ORIGINALLY, A US-ONLY 12" RELEASE, THIS ALBUM WASN'T RELEASED IN THE U.K. AS A 12-INCH ALBUM UNTIL AROUND 1976)
· GENUINE  U.S. PRESSING
*** STILL SEALED CAPITOL (OR APPLE) STEREO LP WITH BOOKLET (WE CAN SEE THE BOOKLET THROUGH THE PROMO CUTOUT HOLE; UNKNOWN GENERATION OF THE PRESSING, BUT JUDGING BY UNUSUAL THICKNESS AND WEIGHT OF THIS SET, DEFINITELY A PRE-1973 PRESSING ***
· BELIEVED TO BE THE PROMOTIONAL PRESSING (BASED ON THE CUTOUT PROMO HOLE); NAMELY, ON CAPITOL AND AFFILIATED LABELS, A NEAT CUTOUT HOLE IN THE UPPER RIGHT-HAND CORNER SIGNIFIES PROMO PRESSINGS, NOT, REPEAT, NOT A CUTOUT ITEM.
· BELIEVED TO BE A VERY EARLY PRESSING CIRCA 1969/70 ON  LIME-GREEN CAPITOL LABEL, LATE 60’s STYLE (WE ARE NOT ENTIRELY CERTAIN)
· TWO “BREATHE” (AIR) HOLES NOTED ON THE SHRINK WRAP
· THIS IS NOT AN IMPORT, RECORD CLUB RELEASE OR A COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.
· ORIGINAL GATEFOLD COVER, MADE OF THICK CARDBOARD (AMERICAN STYLE)
· INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL BOOKLET (WE CAN SEE IT THROUGH THE BOTTOM SEAM)
· UNUSUALLY THICK AND VERY HEAVY VINYL PRESSING
(►PLEASE SEE THE IMAGE OF THE COVER, LABEL OR BOTH, SHOWN BELOW)
(Note: this is a REAL image of the ACTUAL item you are bidding on. This is NOT a "recycled" image from our previous auction. What you see is what you’ll get.  GUARANTEED!)

The U.S. version of the soundtrack for the Beatles' ill-fated British television special embellished the six songs that were found on the British Magical Mystery Tour double EP with five other cuts from their 1967 singles. The psychedelic sound is very much in the vein of Sgt. Pepper's, and even spacier in parts (especially the sound collages of "I Am the Walrus"). Unlike Sgt. Pepper's, there's no vague overall conceptual/thematic unity to the material, which has made Magical Mystery Tour suffer slightly in comparison. Still, the music is great, and "Penny Lane," "Strawberry Fields Forever," "All You Need Is Love," and "Hello Goodbye" were all huge, glorious, and innovative singles. The ballad "The Fool on the Hill," though only a part of the Magical Mystery Tour soundtrack, is also one of the most popular Beatles tunes from the era.
(EXCERPT FROM AN ONLINE REVIEW BY RICHIE UNTERBERGER, ALL MUSIC GUIDE  /ALLMUSIC.COM/)
For its extraordinary contribution to the contemporary music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship, revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, songwriters and general public, or for some other inherent quality, this album was voted one of top-200 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, show business professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted by Paul Gambaccini, the legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals (including Roy Carr, Jonathan Cott, Robert Christgau, Cameron Crowe, Chet Flippo, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie Gillett, Greil Marcus, Murray the K., Lenny Kaye, Bruce Morrow (a/k/a "Cousin Brucie"), Tim Rice , Lisa Robinson, Robert Shelton, Ed Ward, Joel Whitburn, Pete Wingfield, etc.). · CONDITION:
· THE RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).
(b) The album comes with the original booklet still intact. (we can see it through the opening)
(c) The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· THE COVER
COVER IS NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP;  (PLEASE NOTE: THE SHRINK WRAP HAS BEEN SLIT OPEN ALONG ABOUT 10% OF THE OPENING SIDE, BUT THE ALBUM IS STILL VISIBLY SEALED)
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- Cover has a neat, round PROMO cutout hole in one of the corners
-
