Item Description

NIRVANA - SONGS OF LOVE AND PRAISEA superb, hard to fault condition, and eminently presentable copy of this rare and highly sought after 1972 UK 1st press prog/psych gem on the Philips label, 6308 089The dead wax matrix numbers are :Side 1 Etched 6308089 Stamped 6 3 6 0 0 6 4 1Y//1 420 11 2Side 2 Etched 6308089 Stamped 6 3 6 0 0 6 4 2Y//1 420 11 2The condition of the vinyl is near mint NM .
Completely flat and nicely weighty, each side of the vinyl gleams and has retained a beautiful jet black sheen....wonderfully impressive.
In normal daylight each side of the vinyl comes across as unmarked, and to be truthful I have found it difficult to identify any blemishes at all even with close inspection under a bright light.
Perhaps just a couple of the wispiest of wispy extremely faint hairlines but even that is debatable...the appearance of this vinyl is on a par with when it was first bought and, clearly, has been very sparingly played the fantastic sound quality supports this view .
For a 49 year old piece of cherished vinyl such as this the appearance and condition is remarkable. The labels are again near mint NM .
Look closely and you will be able to detect a single, small and very faint spindle trail adjacent to the centre hole on the side 1 label, otherwise perfect with the silver text upon the matt black background on each label each remaining in perfect condition.
The condition of the laminated Rick Breach designed outer sleeve is excellent plus EX , bordering on near mint.
Such a beautiful and iconic sleeve, but fragile and prone to wear and tear and now very difficult to find original 1st press sleeves in excellent condition or better.
Well, here it is...simply beautiful condition, again hard to fault.
Each edge remains firm with no scuffing whatsoever, each corner is a near perfect right angle, the spine remains completely intact with all text completely unblemished and totally legible, the opening sides are firm with no fraying or feathering, and the wonderful art work and colours remain rich, vibrant, and crystal clear.
The only blemishes too strong a word are a little rubbing on the bottom right corner, a slight 4mm compression mark on the top right corner, and x2 horizontal laminate crinkles on the front side adjacent and perpendicular to the spine barely noticeable, even in a good light .
So, not quite perfect...but pretty close Wonderful. The audio quality is near mint NM ...stunning, in fact.
Fantastic tone and clarity throughout with no distortion, even on the higher frequencies and at higher volume.
No sticks, jumps, repeats, interference or background crackle.
Even the dead wax playback is unfettered by crackle...just silence Wonderful...a brilliant listen throughout with some outstanding tracks Rainbow Chaser , Pentecost Hotel , and Stadium to name but three .
For me this LP is a true gem, unbelievably overlooked when first released almost 50 years ago.The track listing is :Side 1: 1.
RAINBOW CHASER2.

STADIUMComes complete with original and excellent condition poly-lined inner sleeve, correctly dated as 0172 and with no seam splits, tears, edge fraying or age discolouration - just a little mild creasing towards the bottom corners and remaining 100 functional.
Note that I always insert the vinyl into a separate new poly-lined inner sleeve for shipping purposes and in order to protect the original.A serious addition to any serious vinyl collection - rare, getting rarer, highly sought after, and only continuing to gain in value.
If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I ll do my best to oblige.
If this record interests you then take a look at my other 60 s 70 s classic vinyl listings.A bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 50 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960 s and 70 s origin.
Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but during the past 30 years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boot sales, auctions, and even through putting up a vinyl wanted notice in my wife s shop I am now retired and take great delight in being able to spend more time scouring the country and attending boot sales and auctions in the hope of unearthing more vinyl gems...I am 66 years of age now and am still discovering bands and music of the 60 s and 70 s that I have never come across before.
Wonderful RichardMy ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I ll sort out the problem.
I offer a no quibble refund policy.
On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard mailer, along with extra protective flange edges, with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners.
I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.
For this item postage packaging will be UK 4.00, Royal Mail 1st class, signed for Continental Europe 13, and Rest of the World 17 respectively, Royal Mail 1st class international Airmail tracked and signed for I DO discount post packaging costs for multiple purchases.
