The entire initial Columbia vinyl release is in the 1949 Columbia Record catalog dated August 1948. The release included the 85 twelve inch classics ML 4001 to 4085, 26 ten inch classics, ML 2001 to 2026, 18 popular ten inch, CL 6001 to 6018, 4 juvenile ten inch, JL 8001 to 8004 and a pair of 2 LP boxed sets, LaBoheme and Hansel & Gretel, SL-1 & SL-2. All original LPs were packaged in the top-open blue and white kraft paper envelopes sporting the Steinweiss greek column (not a 'tombstone') taken from his earlier work on the 78 rpm album MM577. These flimsy envelopes were quickly replaced by side-opening cardboard sleeves which became the industry standard.
