Incredible Remastering Job
I was simply stunned at how good of a job they did remastering these CDs. Often times, with older recordings, the improvement in fidelity is minimal. However, with the Doors catalog, it's almost like listening to the original master tapes! I like the fact that the lyrics were uncensored for these remasters too. Well done Bruce Botnick and surviving Doors members! Highly recommended if you are a Doors fan.I was simply stunned at how good of a job they did remastering these CDs. The Doors DVD Audio Box Set
This set gives you several bonuses- first, it's The Doors, America's greatest rock band, with the inimitable Jim Morrison, a poet genius. Second, it's available in DVD Audio, which is the finest recording science available. So, all of their estimable library in 5.1 multi-channel sound... what's not to like? Also, too, this will be a highly collectible set that should appreciate in value nicely. Remember, the Eagle's 'Hotel California' DVD audio, now (sadly) out of print, fetches $75 or better second hand... not bad for a $20 investment back in '02... Playable on your DVD player or in similarly equipped autos (newer Acura ELS systems), you haven't heard a recording, REALLY heard one, until you check this out. Enjoy! DOORS IN SURROUND - WOW!
I really don't care if surround music has not caught on with the general public...I continue to enjoy the few releases that I can still get my hands on. This is an incredible collection of the all the Doors studio releases, newly remastered and in SURROUND. It sounds amazing. Like you have never heard this group before. The box includes remastered stereo, Dolby Digital surround and high resolution DTS surround. If you have a proper surround set up, you need to get this set!I really don't care if surround music has not caught on with the general public...I continue to enjoy the few releases that I can still get my hands on. A terrific musical experience
The sound of the DVD is astonishing. I've owned the original vinyl. I've owned 180gram vinyl (faux-lizard box). Nothing compares. It is as close to being in the studio as you will ever get. Assuming you have a player that will handle it. On the Oppo player, it is absolute magic. The redbook cds are good, but when you have the DVDs, you will never play them. The little interactions between band and recording engineers between songs is amusing. I only wish my entire cd library had this kind of resolution.The sound of the DVD is astonishing.
