Item Description

Hello and welcome to this auction for a Beatles - Abbey Road 1969 DECCA CONTRACT EXPORT pressing vinyl LP

The HOLY GRAIL of Beatles export pressings Well, it s certainly in the top 3 If you re looking at this then you know what this is and you know how RARE it is...pressed for only a few months in 1969, until moving to the one box EMI label format, this is VERY RARE. I ve only ever seen another TWO copies of the DECCA CONTRACT export pressing sell in the past. The demand for pressings outside of the UK was very high and EMI couldn t meet the pressing demand. In order to meet the demand, they hired out Decca Records to press a limited amount of records and export them. Decca pressings are identified by the groove/ridge on both labels, running about half an inch from the outside edge of the label. DO NOT MISS OUT

I haven t seen one of these Decca Contract pressings up for sale for YEARS Collectors snap them up fast and keep them in their collection, rarely upgrading or selling as there aren t that many out there

Artist: The Beatles

Title: Abbey Road

Catalogue Number: PPCS 7088

Year: 1969

Matrix Numbers: -2 mother stamper: 7 -1 mother stamper: 1

Condition:

Vinyl visual : Side 1 - lots and lots of whispy hairlines and light scratches. None that I can feel however It still retains a nice shine and gloss. Well-played but well looked-after. Currently rated as GOOD /VERY GOOD-. Label is VERY GOOD. Everything is readable, light spindlewear and light wear.

Side 2 - there are fewer hairlines and light scratches than Side 1. A few marks on the first track but I can t feel them...there are NO feelable marks or scratches It has a nice shine and gloss. Currently rated as VERY GOOD-/VERY GOOD. Label is VERY GOOD.

Audio: I have play-tested every single track on this album and I will grade them individually for you below.

Come Together - little bit of crackle on the run-in and throughout but all instruments can be heard nice and clearly. Incredible bass and punch No skips. VERY GOOD.

Something - Crackle on the run-in. Still some light crackle as the track continues but every instrument can be heard and the clarity on the vocals is stunning Again, a lovely rich bass tone with crisp highs. No skips. VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD .

Maxwell s Silver Hammer - light crackle on the run-in, a few light pops but the audio masks the light crackle very well. Still can t believe how punchy and great this sounds Clarity on the vocal, classic 60s sound. No skips. VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD .

Oh Darling - light crackle on the run-in. The loud punchy audio masks it very well, hardly noticeable. Lovely rich tone, with great sparkly clarity and punch on the vocals. No skips. VERY GOOD .

Octopus s Garden - light crackle on the run-in but it soon fades into the background and becomes not so audible. Lovely rich tone. No skips. VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD .

I Want You She s So Heavy - again, slight crackle on the run-in. The bass is phenomenal A few quiet pops in places but the drive of this track masks it well and it s a great sounding track, with clear vocals and crisp guitars. Gets a bit crowded near the end with a bit of noise but everything can still be heard. No skips. VERY GOOD .

Here Comes The Sun - crackle on the run-in, sticks around for the rest of the track but becomes much lighter and more so in the background. There is a TINY skip which misses out the word Here on the second line. I think this could be professionally cleaned as it could just be debris in the groove. I haven t further investigated this matter or cleaned it myself as I do not have the correct facilities to do so. A few light pops here and there but the tone is again very 60s with a lovely rich bass tone and the vocal track is kept nice and clean with lots of clarity. One small skip on the start, could clean out. VERY GOOD-.

Because - crackle on the run-in, once the music starts, it appears more so in the background but it is present. Audio itself is nice and punchy and very crisp. Vocals blend perfectly well together with clarity and tone. No skips, light pops. VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD .

You Never Give Me Your Money - light crackle on the run-in, can be heard during Paul s piano intro but all instruments can be heard. Vocals can be heard. Light crackle can be heard throughout the first quiet half of this song. The audio itself is punchy and crisp and the instruments and vocals sound great No skips. VERY GOOD.

Sun King - light crackle on the run-in with a few light pops. Once the music starts, it can only be slightly heard in the background. Not a major issue, plays great and everything sounds crisp and punchy No skips. VERY GOOD.

Mean Mr. Mustard - punchy start, bass is lovely and rich. The highs are nice and crisp. Vocals can be clearly heard with no major issues on this track. No skips. VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD .

Polythene Pam - highs are very crisp with light background crackle. Every instrument and vocal is audible and this is a true representation of a great late 60s sounding track Solo is great with no issues No skips. VERY GOOD .

She Came In Through The Bathroom Window - great punchy start to the song with clarity and punch. Some light background crackle can be heard but it s barely an issue and it sounds GREAT No skips. VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD .

Golden Slumbers - light crackle on the run-in and intro but nothing major A great-sounding track with lots of clarity and crisp highs. A few pops here and there but very light. Very enjoyable listen No skips. VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD .

Carry That Weight - punchy start. No issues here. Light crackle in places with a few light pops but the instrumentation and vocals can be heard clearly with no major issues. No skips. VERY GOOD.

The End - punchy start with no issues. During, the drum solo, there is next to NO crackle Lots of punch and bass with a fantastic sound. All the guitar solos and vocals can be heard really well and it s a fantastic playing track - will not disappoint No skips. VERY GOOD .

Her Majesty - background crackle throughout but everything is audible, doesn t get interrupted and sounds great No skips. VERY GOOD-.

Inner Sleeve: I have supplied a brand new poly-lined die-cut black inner sleeve, which is in MINT condition

Sleeve: The original 1969 sleeve is in VERY GOOD- condition. No splits or tears but the usual wear and tear. The front has several creases and laminate creases. The rear of the sleeve is clean but again has some creasing and laminate creasing. The spine is 100 readable just pinched. It also has some rubbing towards the middle of the spine. Still retains a nice gloss with light creases and edgewear. Unfortunately, there is no gold Parlophone export sticker with this sleeve...it s all about the record and those labels

PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES

As with all the vintage records I sell, I advise a deep clean to enhance the sound quality of the record. Overall, AN ULTRA RARE Beatles record that everyone should own but probably won t because they re THAT rare .
