LOST LEGENDS OF SURF GUITAR 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION 2LP SET

Mastered From Rare Vintage Tapes Pressed On High-Quality 180g Vinyl Includes Previously Unissued Tracks
It s hard to think of a musical style that s more quintessentially American than surf music. Springing up along the California coast in the early 1960s, the surf sound characterized by wet -sounding guitar reverb that echoed the sound of the sea and pummeling rhythms that emulated the ocean s currents was originally inspired and nurtured by the culture that surrounded the sport. Despite its provincial origins, the surf genre captured the imagination of teenagers around the world, and spawned a remarkably large body of highly original music, with an emphasis on innovative guitar instrumentals that would influence rock axemen for decades to come.
Much of that vintage surf music was originally released on small regional labels, and many of the acts that created some of the greatest surf music never released more than a handful of singles. Those factors resulted in many original surf classics remaining difficult to obtain in recent years. Sundazed Music, a longstanding champion of vintage surf music, went a long way towards remedying that situation with the release of its CD series Lost Legends of Surf Guitar. The series has been widely recognized for rescuing numerous rare, obscure and/or lesser-known gems from surf music s golden age. Now, the landmark series moves into second gear, progressing into the vinyl format with a pair of double-LP collections on 180g vinyl, each of which features 28 below-the-radar vintage surf killers.
Lost Legends of Surf Guitar gathers a rousing, roaring assortment of underground surf classics and under-appreciated gems by such notable surf combos as the Challengers, the Pyramids, the Tornadoes, the Catalinas, the Centurions, the Essex, the Jesters, the Rhythm Rockers, the Royal Coachmen, the Tandems and Dave Myers and His Surftones, as well as numbers by both the Surfaris and the Original Surfaris There s also a rarely-heard track by legendary Minnesota surf-garage kings the Trashmen, the out-there Devil Surfer by Scott Engel who would soon go on to pop stardom and cult acclaim as Scott Walker and scarce versions of such surf anthems as Jack the Ripper, Point Panic and Moondawg.
This essential collection, meticulously mastered from rare vintage tapes and pressed on high-quality vinyl, is the perfect collection for gremmie and ho-dad alike, so grab this wave and jump head-first into the surf

The Challengers Go Sidewalk Surfing LP LIMITED EDITION Purple Vinyl

Purple Vinyl LP Remastered from the Original Analog Tapes AND LIMITED TO 1000 PIECES WORLDWIDE
The Challengers were one of the first and one of the best of the California surf combos. They were also one of the most prolific, turning out a series of ultra-cool LPs that stand with the surf genre s most beloved recordings. The Challengers, led by drummer/producer Richard Delvy, originally grew out of the breakup of the pioneering surf outfit the Bel Airs, and took their predecessors achievements several steps further, creating some of the era s most powerful surf instrumentals.
On this 1965 LP, the Challengers turned their attention to the booming sport of skateboarding, as the titles of such standout tunes as Asphalt Spinner, Skinned Shins and Delvy s Sidewalk Capers demonstrate. Elsewhere on the album, the band honors its surf roots with board-busting renditions of such surf standards as Pipeline, The Cruel Sea and Banzai Washout, which showcase the Challengers imaginative compositions and peerless instrumental chops.
After being out of print on vinyl for decades, this killer platter is back, remastered from the original analog tapes, pressed on high-quality high-definition vinyl and packaged in its complete original cover art.

THE CATALINAS FUN FUN FUN 150 GRAM LIMITED EDITION LP BLUE YELLOW SPLIT VINYL - IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND THIS ONE NOW - WHAT A LINE UP WITH THE WRECKING CREW

High Definition Blue Yellow Split Vinyl Remastered From Original Analog Tapes Limited to 1000 Copies
Sundazed has given this groundbreaking music the royal treatment: meticulous mastering from the original analog tapes and pressed on high-definition vinyl. Sundazed continues to set and maintain the surf and hot rod reissue standard
The first wave of the surf music explosion spawned countless short-lived bands and one-shot studio projects. Many of those projects were quickly forgotten, but a handful have continued to inspire hushed reverence among surf aficionados. The latter category includes the Catalinas lone album, originally released in 1964 and out of print for more than four decades.
An all-star studio super group featuring legendary producer Terry Melcher, future Beach Boy Bruce Johnston and fabled Wrecking Crew members Hal Blaine, Jerry Cole, Steve Douglas, Leon Russell, Billy Strange and Tommy Tedesco, the Catalinas lived up to their impressive pedigree. In addition to rarely-heard tunes penned by Bobby Darin and a pre-Byrds Roger McGuinn, the album features potent versions of such surf and hot rod classics as Surfin U.S.A., Wipe Out, Banzai Washout, I Get Around and Summer Means Fun.
Long a rare collector s item, Fun Fun Fun is now back in its original vinyl format, remastered from the original analog tapes and pressed on high-definition vinyl, with complete original cover art.

NEW DIMENSIONS - SURF INSTRUMENTALS Out of Print SEALED Analog LP - WITH BONUS TRACKS

THIS LP IS SO RARE THAT ONLY ONE RETAILER IN THE WORLD HAS ONE COPY OF THIS PRESSING LEFT STILL SEALED AND IS SELLING IT FOR 199.98. THIS WILL BE THE BEST PRICE YOU WILL EVER SEE A SEALED COPY EVER AGAIN.

Any surf fan worth his sea-salt will flip his lid for the reverb to infinity staccato rush of the New Dimensions Sundazed presents the first-ever collection of the group s mightiest recordings from 63: chock fulla tuff surf n hot rod sounds and lotsa loud guitar racket Some 42 years later, I still remember National Breakout I bought Surfin Bongos in 63 or so and loved it. I partially learned drums from that record. I always wondered if they were a real band, a studio band, or just a project to cash in on the surf craze. It was a very pleasant surprise to find out they were not only a real band, but a bunch of high school kids I can t speak for their other albums, but for Surfin Bongos, the album cover was definitely done on the cheap. There was no photo of the band, no mention of the musicians that I can remember so it made you wonder where the music came from. I recently found Craig Nuttycombe, their rhythm guitar player and what a nice guy
As far as this best of, it really hits the mark. You can t ask for better surf music. And no, I am not comparing them to the Beach Boys. They are in a different category with the other instrumental greats. They didn t have the production values of some of the other bands, but they capture the all important California surfing spirit. When I listen to the samples, I can smell the salt surf, hear the pounding waves, feel the hot sand on my feet, even see the ice plant on the sand dunes.
If you want great instrumental surf music, you can t go wrong with the New Dimensions.

THIS TITLE IS SO RARE THAT THE LARGEST SITE IN THE WORLD ONLY HAS TWO SELLERS WITH THIS TITLE AVAILABLE IT S SELLS FOR 180 AT IT LOWEST PRICE.

Intoxica is a fun VINYL to listen to. The Revels were pretty much a pre-surf surf rock group. The band was doing it s thing before the surf craze of the early 60s caught on, but when you listen to it, you ll hear hints of what was to become surf rock as we know it. So be forewarned if you buy this expecting the Revels to sound like The Surfaris. This was a great time in rock history, coz bands could make a career out of being an instrumental group, and people loved it. You won t see this kinda thing happening today in mainstream music. In fact, if you ve seen Pulp Fiction, you might remember them. Remember that rather unpleasant scene with Ving Rhames where Bruce Willis takes out those guys with a samurai sword? That peppy tune with the nasty sax? If you happen to remember that, then you ve got a good idea of how the Revels sound. It s boss

THE TORNADOES - BUSTIN SURFBOARDS - When they are at the top of their game on this LP, The Tornadoes are pure 100 Surf-Guitar, nothing watered down Starting off mellow cool with Busting Surfboards, FROM PULP FICTION then going into the exotic Malaguena same melody as the Russian folk song Dark Eyes , You d think they d be worried sick about getting sand in their sax, but you d be wrong. The carefree Tornadoes didn t give a rat s ass about anything but surfin and baggin beavers. And the world became a better place for their callous indifference to fine brass plating.

JERRY COLE THE SPACEMAN - SURF AGE LIMITED TO 1000 PIECES WORLDWIDE -

Could anything be better than surf music played by crazed spacemen? Not likely And here s the proof: guitar-wrangler Jerry Cole and His Spacemen s stupidly rare 1964 LP, Surf Age While most of Cole s albums were cranked out at the astounding pace, Surf Age, his second LP for Capitol Records, was by comparison a production of epic proportions. For the sessions, Cole and his hand-picked all-star crew of LA studio cats labored to create an album unlike any other, an endlessly inventive amalgam of surf and 60s pop.

The original liner notes say it most eloquently: One listen to the music of Jerry Cole and His Spacemen will tell you that theirs is the sound of the SURF AGE Their beat is as dynamic as tomorrow s crashing waves their instrumental blend is as fresh and modern as tomorrow night s surfing dance party their tunes are definitely for swingin moderns.

The Beach Boys Surfin USA 200 GRAM LIMITED EDITION LP

The Ultimate Pressings of the Beach Boys Discography from Analogue Productions
200g Vinyl LP Pressed at Quality Record Pressings
Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from the Original Master Tapes or Best Sources Available
A musical legacy that began in Hawthorne, California and went on to conquer the world. Analogue Productions presents the ultimate pressings of 14 essential Beach Boys albums Mastered by Kevin Gray, most from the original master tapes, and plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings, the finest LP pressing facility in the world, these are awesome recordings to experience. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority Presented in old school Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals
Surfin USA was the Beach Boys real breakthough album, showing Brian Wilson asserting himself in the studio as both a premier songwriter and arranger on a set of material that was stronger than their Surfin Safari debut.
Apart from Surfin Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965. The Beach Boys Today was the first LP for which they only delivered a mono master.
The stereo editions of Surfin USA, Surfer Girl, Little Deuce Coupe, Shut Down Vol. 2, All Summer Long, Beach Boys Christmas Album and Beach Boys Concert were all mixed in stereo by their own preferred engineer, Chuck Britz, ostensibly under the group s supervision.
Brian may or may not have been present for those mixing sessions evidence suggests that he trusted Chuck s skills enough to let him prepare those mixes on his own but the group held onto their multitrack tapes and delivered stereo masters to Capitol, rather than allowing Capitol to prepare their own stereo versions. Later, when Brian was only delivering mono masters, Capitol would prepare the Duophonic pseudo stereo editions for the stereo market, says Alan Boyd, producer and Beach Boys archivist.
The Beach Boys practice of double-tracking their vocals really lends itself to stereo mixes. Split left and right, as they are on a lot of those early stereo versions, those doubled vocal parts can really envelop the listener, surrounding them with Wilsons, Loves and Jardines
All of the newer stereo mixes on these remastered albums The Beach Boys Today , Summer Days And Summer Nights , The Beach Boys Party, Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile were all done by Mark Linett on behalf of the Beach Boys.
Besides the hit title track on Surfin USA and its popular drag-racing flip side Shut Down , AllMusic notes that Surfin USA has a lovely, heartbreaking ballad Lonely Sea and a couple of strong Brian Wilson originals The Noble Surfer and Farmer s Daughter .
There are also a surprisingly high quotient of instrumentals five that demonstrate that...the Beach Boys could play respectably gutsy surf rock as a self-contained unit. Indeed, the album as a whole is the best they would make, prior to the late 60s, as a band that played most of their instruments, rather than as a vehicle for Brian Wilson s ideas. The LP was a huge hit, vital to launching surf music as a national craze, and one of the few truly strong records to be recorded by a self-contained American rock band prior to the British Invasion.

To meet the standards of Analogue Productions, their Beach Boys album reissues had a mission to achieve: Present the band s music the way that Brian Wilson famed co-founder, songwriter and arranger intended. Mono mixes created under Wilson s supervision were how the surf rockin California crew rose to fame And they ve got em
For the early part of the Beach Boys career, all of their singles were mixed and mastered and released only in the mono format they didn t release a single in stereo until 1968. In those days, hits were made on AM radio in mono. And the mono of those times worked well for Wilson, who suffers from partial deafness. Still, apart from Surfin Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965. The Beach Boys Today was the first LP for which they only delivered a mono master.
Bottom line, the mono mixes were where Brian Wilson paid intense attention, and the dedication paid off
Analogue Productions has taken 10 of the most classic, best-sounding Beach Boy titles ever and restored them to their mono glory
But there s no disputing that the close harmonies and one-of-a-kind rhythms of hits like Surfer Girl, In My Room, Little Deuce Coupe and more lend themselves naturally to stereo. So Analogue Productions has your 2-channel needs covered with prime stereo mix versions as well.
Mastered by Kevin Gray, most from the original master tapes, and plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings, the finest LP pressing facility in the world, these are awesome recordings to experience. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority Presented in old school Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals
With this quiet QRP pressing of Surfin Safari you ll enjoy the smash hit title cut as well as 409, Summertime Blues, and more as the fledgling Beach Boys proudly display their garage band roots in this, their debut album for Capitol Records.
Their classic songs epitomize the spirit of the California lifestyle and The Beach Boys have become an American icon to a worldwide audience. The Beach Boys first hit Surfin 1961 launched a string of chart-topping songs that spans nearly forty years and includes eternal anthems of American youth: Surfin USA, Surfer Girl, Fun, Fun, Fun, I Get Around, California Girls, Help Me Rhonda, Barbara Ann, Good Vibrations, Wouldn t It Be Nice, Rock and Roll Music, Kokomo, and more.
Their chart success alone would have earned The Beach Boys their spot in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame they were inducted in 1988 , not to mention 32 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards and worldwide sales estimated at more than 100 million. But The Beach Boys story is one of not only commercial but also artistic success. Their unique blend of harmonies, musical arrangements and timeless lyrics still place the music of The Beach Boys among the All-Time Favorites of today s music critics. As an example, VH-1 named Pet Sounds as the No. 3 album in the Top 100 Albums in Rock n Roll History, as judged in a poll of musicians, executives and journalists. The Beach Boys were honored at the 2001 Grammy Awards, receiving The Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy.

DICK DALE AND THE DEL TONES - SUMMER SURF - In the half-century since he began his reign as King of the Surf Guitar, Dick Dale has remained one of rock s most innovative and influential axemen. A bold pioneer in the use of speed, volume and sonic texture, the charismatic Dale invented surf music, and in the process permanently altered the role of the electric guitar in rock n roll. Of all the surf guitarists who would follow in Dale s wake, none could match his prodigious technique, his fierce showmanship or his restless inventiveness.

At the dawn of the 1960s, Dale s passion for the sport of surfing inspired him to create music that replicated the physical sensations of the surfing experience.

Although he began releasing singles on his own Deltone label in the late 50s, Dale made much of his most enduring music during his 60s stint with Capitol Records. In addition to carving out the surf sound on the landmark albums Surfers Choice, King of the Surf Guitar and Summer Surf, Dale turned for inspiration to another all-American pursuit--drag racing--to create the hot-rod music genre on the LPs Checkered Flag and Mr. Eliminator.

THIS vinyl restoration of the vintage Dale catalog features Summer Surf, Dale s superb 1964 collection. It s just the ticket for chasing those wintertime blues, as the man who single-handedly invented the genre cuts loose with what he does best. Whether it s the high-stakes excitement of Glory Wave, the wacky hand-jive of Mama s Gone Surfin or the raging glory of Tidal Wave, the sand, the sun and the waves will always be with you if the sound of Dick Dale is close at hand This album has been mastered from the original analog tapes.

The late, angel-throated Carl Wilson in particular shines here, and with two of brother Brian s greatest-ever tunes, Til I Die and Surf s Up, closing things out... the listener is left levitating in ecstasy as the final notes fade away. To this day, I get misty when I hear those songs - that teenage me gently inhabiting my being for a precious few minutes. - Fred Mills, Stereophile Magazine, February 2013, p. 74

BEACH BOYS - ENDLESS SUMMER - This was the album by which millions of sons of late baby boomers and sons and daughters of the early ones first really discovered the Beach Boys, beyond hearing the occasional oldie on the radio. It was the summer of 1974, and the Beach Boys were still trying to get themselves back on track commercially after a seven-year commercial dry spell, when this double LP of their 1963-1966 material all but one cut predating Pet Sounds came along and did the job. Endless Summer, which was assembled in consultation with Mike Love, soared to number one and charted high over two subsequent summers and attracted the enthusiastic attention of millions of listeners too young to have bought their singles back when.
