Item Description

First things first....this is not my main ebay selling page, just the one I use occasionally so she doesn t take note,..I m not a dishonest person but I ve had enough of forking out on her current whims or the latest cordless Dyson she s already got 2 and fancies the look of the new model ...she s got some kind of fetish about them and I like the idea of some quality time, such as a trip away soon and hope the sale of this LP will help greatly towards funding it...

Please view my other 20 year main account page .... semaphorogrundy777..... for 1275 feedback on other audio items and rare records sold and for auction.....

I am auctioning the LP below....so for a more extensive feedback profile please copy and paste to view....

Rod Stewart Faces Every Picture Tells A Story LP 6338 063 Autograph Signed Ex

So on offer here is,,,,,,,UK Ed1 Columbia Stereo SAX 2307 with Blue and Silver labels.....

Leonid Kogan Brahms Violin Concerto in D major with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Kyril Kondrashin...SAX 2307

If you know your classical recordings you know this to be one of the most collectible LP s out there, not just because of its limited press run , hence rarity, and the superb playing...but mainly due to its superlative Stereo production...this LP is totally new to the market place having been sitting in the back of a friends uncles record cabinet for decades, his uncle as relocated to Portugal and gave my friend free reign to acquire what he wanted...Good old uncle Dave

So here goes with the fine details.....

Matrix numbers......Side One YAX 304-4 Side Two......YAX304-11.

With Mother stampers to both sides 1.........R.....Indicating that this is a true first original...circa 1958...Stereo UK issue....SAX 2307.

Sleeve......Showing minimal signs of its years,...just a slither, one or two millimetres in depth if that of laminate peel to top near opening edge,....see pic 10,...a small ding to bottom corner of opening edge,..see pic 9, other than that a superb sleeve,..bright unmarked front as is the tri flipback rear, barely any discolouration and no annoying scrawl...with a perfectly legible spine...no feathering to opening edges or shelf rub to bottom....comes with original excellent paper liner sleeve....

Vinyl.... visually both sides are beautiful, ..with no marks whatsoever even under a 100 watt light bulb....gleaming glass like sheen, labels showing no spindle marks or writing ....If you opened a sealed copy you d expect a LP to look like this,...Spotless.

Sonic Performance....

Side 1.... First Movement .... Intro s contains no horrendous loud clicks, pops or egg frying background noise....just the occasional light pop, stunning audio and performance.....Excellent Plus

Side 2....... 2nd Movement Adigio ....Intro as some light static noise, about a minute or so, this is not horrendous egg frying crackle but some faint tics and one or two light sporadic pops...nothing to deter from the brilliant SAX sound..I m being extra honest and perhaps a wee bit over critical but aim to be totally transparent,,...other than just mentioned, again stunning audio.....and performance,..its really no surprise why these SAX recordings, and this musician in particular, are so highly sought after...even with the minor discrepancies mentioned, this 2nd movement still sounds superb...Excellent....

3rd Movement....Superb audio, clear hiss, click, pop free playback, Leonid really lets fly here and gives his Violin a real work out, playing with real vim and vigour and a large dose of verve.....a stunning performance........Excellent Plus

Sonic Summary.....there are no long or short passages of loud clicks, loud ghastly background egg frying etc....there is the very isolated occasional dull pop and as stated a tad of static at intro of Side Two...2nd Movement....the record in its entirety plays... Excellent Plus......Visually, totally clean,,,Nr Mint....

Please bear in mind that some of these SAX LP s are now getting on to 60 years of age, to find any Kogan original UK 1st Stereo editions in passable condition is hard, to find one like this extremely so....I m not prone to hyperbole and I cannot state its the best one out there, but I d wager its possibly in the top 5.....

Please view my other selling account feedback ....semaphorogrundy777......on hundreds of audio items sold...many rare classical SAX SXL ASD etc and rock LP s.

Please Note.....This LP only ships to the Paypal eligible address included in your Paypal payment account.
