Item Description
Offered for sale is the 2006 limited edition pressing of all ten Led Zeppelin albums, pressed by Classic Records on single-sided, 200 gram, 45 RPM discs, issued in a metal road case.
In the early part of the 2000s, Classic Records released the entire Led Zeppelin catalog under license from Atlantic Records, and released all ten albums as limited-edition, 33 1/3 RPM pressings on both 180 gram and 200 gram heavyweight vinyl.
These pressings sold well and are highly sought after by collectors today, with most of the individual titles now commanding prices in excess of 200 each.
In 2006, Classic went a step further and released the albums as a set in what is now referred to as the Led Zeppelin Road case.
Each of the ten albums were cut at 45 RPM on single-sided 12 discs pressed on heavy, 200 gram Quiex SV-P vinyl, for maximum fidelity.
This set was extremely limited in production while exact figures are unknown, we ve heard that only 150 sets were released, and the set sold out immediately.
A planned second pressing of the set was canceled shortly prior to production, as were planned 45 RPM releases of the individual albums in the set.
This set represents the only commercially released versions of the Led Zeppelin catalog at 45 RPM.
While the set is usually advertised as having 44 records in total, it actually has 48: SD 8216-45 Led Zeppelin I 4 Disc Set SD 8236-45 Led Zeppelin II 4 Disc Set SD 7201-45 Led Zeppelin III 4 Disc Set SD 7208-45 Led Zeppelin IV 4 Disc Set SD 7255-45 Houses Of The Holy 4 Disc Set SS 2200-45 Physical Graffiti 8 Disc Set SS 2201-45 Song Remains the Same 8 Disc Set SS 8416-45 Presence 4 Disc Set SS 16002-45 In Through the Out Door 4 Disc Set SS 90051-45 Coda 4 Disc Set Each album includes an authentic reproduction of the original album cover for the first disc and plain white jackets for additional discs, along with a plastic title divider card for each album.
Each disc includes original Atlantic Records label art and catalog numbers.
The heavy duty road case has a clear plastic front and back, and the original removable plastic protective film, to protect the clear plastic.
is still in place.
Condition is M- for the records and covers.
The previous owner only played 3-4 of the discs once each most of the records are unplayed.
The case is M-.
Some of the divider cards are slightly bent.
Please note: Classic Records had well-documented problems pressing their single-sided 200 gram LPs it s part of the reason the company is no longer in business.
A few of the records in this set have very slight warps to them.
That is, slight , as in, they are not 100 , absolutely, positively, completely and perfectly flat , and not slight as in, they are unplayable.
None of those records have warps to the extent that the records will not adequately play.
We own a few dozen of Classic s 200 gram LPs, and probably half of them could be described as not perfectly flat.
So, are all 48 records perfectly flat? No.
Most of them are.
Are the remainder flat enough to satisfy 99 of potential owners? Probably.
We doubt that there is a single example of this road case anywhere with 48 perfectly flat records.
We hope this clears up any questions or misconceptions and apologize if anyone feels this description has been misleading.
This case represents one of the rarest commercially released Led Zeppelin items ever and is also perhaps the best-sounding pressings of these albums ever made.
NOTE: The recently-announced reissues of the Led Zeppelin albums that will soon come out will be mastered from digital sources.
This may be your ultimate chance to hear these albums in their original, full-bodied, analog glory.
