Item Description

LED ZEPPELIN I - VG Vinyl RARE 1st Press Superhype Miscredit TURQUOISE LETTERS STEREO Atlantic 588 171 This is the extremely rare and sought after first pressing of Led Zeppelin s 1969 debut album.
Here are the details you re looking for: Turquoise sleeve lettering.Superhype publishing miscredit.Red and maroon label.Corrected A1/B1 matrix numbers.
588171 A//1 - 588171 B//1 Just a quick note about the matrix number thing.
Mostly, these first pressings have the uncorrected matrix number, but this item has the corrected number which means one of the 8s in the number has been etched out and replaced with a hand etched 8.
However this item also has the Superhype/Jewel miscredits that indicated a genuine 1st press, as well as the turquoise lettering on the cover.
I can verify for what it s worth that this is the record that originally came in this sleeve, as I am selling from my father s collection and he wrote his name on the back cover when he bought it nice once dad...
, so this really is a one careful owner deal.
I have seen debate on collector s forums about whether there were indeed first press copies of this album sold with the turquoise lettering, miscredit and corrected matrix numbers and I can confirm that there absolutely were, and this is one.
So in actual fact this is a presumably incredibly rare crossover pressing.
Please do contact me with any questions about this, or indeed with any more information you may have on this issue.
I m happy to answer questions and/or arrange a viewing for serious buyers.
Sleeve: VG Vinyl: VG Here is a hyper critical and detailed breakdown of the condition of this item: Very light storage wear only on sleeve.
Front cover retains it s laminated shine, with some very slight laminate lift around the left hand side which I m not sure you can even see in the pictures.
Some very light crease marks and rippling as shown in picture, and a tiny scuff to the front right corner.
Otherwise the front is in really great condition.
Back is in similarly great condition, very slight creasing and laminate lift that I think is visible on the right hand side if you zoom into the pictures.
Also previous owner my dad had written his name very lightly in the back top right corner, the actual pen marks are thankfully no longer there, but there is a light imprint that I have shown in a close up picture.
As you can see from the full picture of the back cover the imprint isn t really visible unless you look closely.
Original poly lined paper inner sleeve is included and in great condition aside from a few corner folds, shown in pictures.
I have seen covers in worse shape than this get an EX rating, which I feel is dishonest.
This is a solid VG Light surface marks on both sides of vinyl, mostly inaudible but there is some background noise during quieter parts and a few pops along the way.
I listen tested it through and it all sounds fantastic with one exception, a single skip towards the end of track 1 on side 2.
On inspection the mark there is fairly light, so it could be that with a better balanced, less worn stylus it could play through.
This is of course just conjecture, and the buyer should make note of this issue.
The vinyl has been carefully cleaned, so will arrive to you lovely and shiny.
Overall the record it rated VG- Please ask for more details/pictures if needed, and see below for packaging details.
This item will of course be carefully packed and insured to final sale value for the lucky winner.
