Who Do We Think We Are is the studio album by Deep Purple, released in 1973.
It was Deep Purple s last album with singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover until Perfect Strangers came out in 1984.
Musically, the record showed a move to a more blues based sound even featuring scat singing.
Although its production and the band s behaviour after its release showed the group in turmoil, with frontman Gillan remarking that we d all had major illnesses and felt considerable fatigue, the album was a commercial success.
Deep Purple became the U.S.
top selling artist of the entire year.
The album also featured the energetic hard rock single Woman from Tokyo , which has been performed on several tours by the band over the years.
Despite massive sales, the group disintegrated among much infighting between band members as well as conflicts with their managers.
The album s line-up would come to an end after a final concert in Osaka, Japan on 29 June 1973.
It hit number 4 in the UK charts and number 15 in the US charts.
It also achieved a gold record award faster than any Deep Purple album released up to that time.
These numbers helped make Deep Purple the best selling artist in the U.S.
in 1973 with the prior acclaim for Machine Head and Made in Japan helping much as well .
ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING: Yes brilliant - NEAR MINT sound quality throughout.
All audio has been thoroughly tested.
This stunning vinyl has fantastic audio precision.
Clear and crisp from this great 1st pressing.
I am pleased to say that this rare pressing plays through with extremely bright un disturbed audio.
It really is a tremendous example, the channels are clean and unstressed and there is not even a hint of distortion anywhere on the record.
I will give a detailed account below: Who Do We Think We Are is a extremely hard to find with even half decent audio.
It can so often come with a blurry sound, pops and clicks, even when there are no visible marks on the vinyl.
I am glad to say this pressing plays with absolute superb audio with no loud clicks or pops and certainly no distortion what so ever.
This great records play up to their high visual grading and beyond.
Strong, undistorted sound free of any loud pops or clicks, the channels are clean and unstressed.
The record plays with staggering power, with a minimum of any surface sound during the tracks.
Fantastic top quality vibrant sound throughout.
Supreme audio with nothing to distract form the enjoyment of this fantastic collection of records As well as looking great, this stunning vinyl gives an outstanding audio performance.
Fantastic power, clarity and sharpness, combining the rich warm sound of these first pressing UK vinyl s, with precise audio instrumentation.
The vocals and keyboards ring out, as do the drums and various guitar sounds.
The vinyl delivers full NEAR MINT sound quality throughout The album starts with incredibly clear music, with so many sounds and layering that is usually inaudible.
Woman from Tokyo is a real test for the record.
Its nearly always plagued by heavy static loud pops and clicks, but here it plays beautifully, with barely any detectable static or noticeable surface sound at all.
The track bursts in with amazing power and clarity, a complex track with complex audio layering, all bright and clear.
A wonderful Mary Long sounds unplayed, as does the whole album, with perfect audio.
There is no light static during the quieter sections, or anywhere else on this great track.
Super clear bright audio with perfect separation.
Still no pops, clicks or even a hint or distortion or surface sound.
Super Trouper plays perfectly, with virtually NO background static at all, and certainly no pops or clicks.
Smooth Dancer sounds amazing, with flawless audio.
There is a bit of light static between tracks but that it.
The whole record plays with incredible clear bright sound.
Amazing audio, the whole album just plays superbly with not a hint of distortion or even surface sound anywhere, just great clear audio.
Rat Bat Blue brings in side 2.

Truly incredible audio experience.
This is a great listening pleasure and I would easily give this a grading of NEAR MINT condition.
THE RECORD Virtually unmarked vinyl.
TOP audio, - NO audio blurring, NO distortion, NO background noise or hiss what so ever, and silence between the tracks.
Visually immaculate, this is a superb piece of glossy vinyl.
Deep clear grooves, this vinyl is gleaming.
The record has an amazing shine, with NO scratches, NO hairlines.

I would give this a grading of NEAR MINT condition.
VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.
THE LABELS Great condition, the labels are unmarked with NO spindle traces.
Great all round examples.I would have to give this a grading of NEAR MINT condition.
THE COVER This is a great edition of this laminated cover.
The opening edges of this first press cover were not particularly prone to fraying, but did often get bashed and dented, and could get some feathering at the openings.
Not this one, which is very square, totally un frayed and without dents.
Surprisingly the back covers were often prone to ring wear, but this one is nice and clean, without ANY ring wear.
The Spine shows NO wear, with the spine text being totally intact, and a couple of light creases only.
This is one of the squarest I have ever seen The Spine is in near perfect shape with strong square shoulders, sharp corners and edges, clean, clear and fully readable.
A stunning example.
I would have to give this a grading of EXCELLENT PLUS condition.
THE INNER The inner sleeve of Who Do We Think We Are is in great condition.
These sensitive inners are nearly always marked to some extent.
It is near impossible to find any copy with an unmarked inner.
This is a great example, unmarked with undamaged corners.
No seam splits, no separations, no splits, no tears, no damage, a few very light handling marks only.
Incredible A great example.
I would give this a grading of NEAR MINT condition.
THE POSTER / LYRIC INSERT The poster / lyric insert of Who Do We Think We Are is in great condition.
These are nearly always marked to some extent.
It is near impossible to find any pressing with an unmarked inner.
This is a great example, unmarked with undamaged corners.
A great example.
I would give this a grading of NEAR MINT condition.
RARITYFinding an original UK press of Who Do We Think We Are in this type of condition is incredibly rare.
Like all Deep Purple albums the vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound.
Any examples with a record in this type of condition, that plays practically perfectly is unheard of.
The cover is almost impossible to find without heavy creasing and wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this one is one is a great example.
Finding a great cover like this, with a great inner sleeve and a stunning piece of vinyl, makes this an incredible rarity, a stunning set.
Fantastic A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE AND VALUABLE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY.
