1971 US ORIGINAL ISSUE NRS-2587-SLP STEREO. EXTREMELY RARE CHRISTIAN PSYCH/HARD PSYCH, THE ALBUM THAT CREATED A GENRE, POKORA RATING 6-STARS ABSOLUTELY AN ARCHIVE-QUALITY COPY, NO CUT, NO PUNCH, NO SEAM SPLITS OR CORNER CREASES. THIS IS THE ONE YOU VE BEEN WAITING FOR.

The Earthen Vessel was formed in 1970 in Lansing, Michigan by Leon Morton a tenor with a local Gospel Quartet. Originally known as The Rare Ones, the band soon changed names to The Earthen Vessel after a biblical reference. The band combined Christian philosophy with psychedelic rock music to forge a new genre in American music. In the early 70 s Christian music was brought into the forefront because of the popularity of such rock musicals as Jesus Christ Superstar, The Survival Of Saint Joan and Joseph And His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and young musicians discovered that they could still play rock and be true to their Christian ideals. The Earthen Vessel was one such band that broke the traditional mold of what religious music should sound like. The band became popular in the Midwest and toured a number of University campuses, high schools and anti-drug rallies throughout early 1971 . In the fall of 1971 the band recorded an album of original material in Nashville s Monument Studios that was released on the small NRS Records label. The music on the album consisted of six hard rock psychedelic songs that praised the Lord in the lyrics while rocked out in the music. While the music had a clear message of love peace and God s word, it was not accepted by many church leaders because of the hard rock sound of the songs and the band subsequently broke up a short time later

GRADED CONSERVATIVELY not trying to break hearts here...

I am not a professional record grader, however an avid collector. In my personal opinion the grading of this LP is as accurate as possible. Some records are play graded, some are not. If you would like to know if this one was, please contact me for records that are graded visually, play grade is available by request

I am not a big company. I am one person with a full time job outside of eBay. I work in the restaurant industry, so customer service is a huge part of my every day. Just as I do in my day job, with eBay I strive to provide the best hospitality and service I can.

Finally, I love giving 5-Star Positive feedback, just as much as I love receiving it If you feel that your experience overall does not merit 5-Star Positive feedback, please contact me prior to posting so that 1. I have an opportunity to make it right and 2. I have the opportunity to learn from my mistakes

Please feel free to message me with any questions.

GOLDMINE GRADING:

STILL SEALED - Just like it says, Sealed. Presumed mint unless otherwise noted.

MINT - It should appear to be perfect. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or strains, labels or writing, tears or splits. Mint means perfect.

NEAR MINT - Otherwise mint but has one or two tiny inconsequential flaws that do not affect play. Covers should be close to perfect with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident: slight ring-wear, minor denting to a corner, or writing on the cover should all be noted properly.

VERY GOOD PLUS - The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Not too far from perfect. On a disc, there may be light paper scuffs from slinging in and out of sleeve on the vinyl or some of the original luster may be lost. A slight scratch that did not affect the play would be acceptably VG for most collectors.

VERY GOOD - Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise, but should not overwhelm the musical experience. Usually a cover is VG when one or two of these problems are evident: ring-wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains, etc.

GOOD - Well played with little luster and significant surface noise. Despite defects record should still play all the way through without skipping. Several cover flaws will be apparent, but should not obliterate the artwork.

POOR - Any record or cover that does not qualify for the above GOOD grading should be seen as poor. Several cover flaws.
