Up for auction is a first issue of Blue Note 4175, Herbie Hancock s Empyrean Isles, featuring Freddie Hubbard, Ron Carter, and Anthony Williams. Recorded on June 17, 1964, this first/original Mono issue has:
- blue/white Blue Note Records Inc - New York USA labels, deep groove only on side A,
- Van Gelder stamped in the dead wax, both sides
- P sometimes called ear for Plastylite etched in the trail off, both sides
- non laminated jacket,
- 43 West 61st St., New York 23 address on back cover
Sleeve: NM, with virtually no wear whatsoever to the front cover or spine, a small section of discoloration in the bottom left corner, and review copy as well as a line of blue ink with date December 18, 9164 on the back near the top.
Record: side 1 - NM, with extremely minor/ near invisible wear from being pulled out of the sleeve, has perhaps been played once or twice side 2 NM , with virtually no signs of wear or imperfections outside of what might have been present in the original pressing, potentially never played.
