First time on eaby to the best of my knowledge. Ultra rare David Bowie LP Diamond Dogs made in JAMAICA on the RCA Victor label.
This LP came into my possession a couple of years ago. It was the first time I've ever came across Bowie pressing from Jamaica.
After intensive inquiring with many Bowie specialists, collectors, and many discussion forums, I came to the conclusion that this is probably one of Bowie's rarest items ever as no one hardly saw a copy before.
The label has a deep groove, which is common with some Jamaican pressings. Orange RCA # CPL1-0576 with black letters. The words "Manufactured by Federal MFG. CO. Jamaica from masters of RCA Records" is printed along the groove on the upper side of the label (See pictures).
The matrix numbers in the dead wax are - CPL-10576-A & CPL-10576-B. This is most probably the first and only pressing of this album made in Jamaica.
Like many jamaican pressings, the record was made in Jamaica while the cover was imported from the US (as presented here - a fold-out US cover).
It is obvious that this is a genuine original copy. The type of vinyl, its flexibility, the slight wear on the label, and the overall look implement that this record was made somewhere in the 70's. Only few collectors admitting they saw such a copy before as it happen with obscure pressings from far sides of the world, but even fewer admitted to have a copy.
