Up for auction is
Blue Note 4034: Lee Morgan s Leeway, featuring Morgan on trumpet, Jackie McLean on alto, Bobby Timmons on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Art Blakey on drums. This is a copy
from the collection of an ex-radio DJ from New York, this is an original mono with the 47 WEST 63rd - NYC address, the RVG and ear stamped in the dead wax, and deep grooves on the label. It has BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St. New York 23 on the back cover. All signs point to this being a first pressing. This album was recorded on April 28, 1960.
Sleeve Ex-, with a glossy, bright NM front cover, no seam splits, no ringwear, but some staining on the bottom of the back cover. Includes an acquisition date of April 10,1961 written by the DJ and a review copy stamp by Blue Note.
Record: NM-, comes with the original Blue Note inner sleeve, has some very minor scuffing on both sides from coming in and out of the sleeve. Very little spindle wear, perhaps played once per side.
I am a university professor of music here in the US
who inherited this and other records Blue Note, Norgran, Impulse , Columbia,
Prestige, Fantasy, Riverside, etc. from a collector and former radio DJ a few
years back. I am looking to sell off some of these records to
collectors/audiophiles who can get more enjoyment out of them than I can.
Thanks for looking.
