Item Description

THE ROLLING STONES - PROMOTIONAL ALBUM Conceived in September 1969, this album was designed specifically to promote their upcoming U.S.
tour.
The LP collected the best tracks left off the group s two official existing compilation albums plus the new track Love In Vain , from the forthcoming Let It Bleed .
LP.
Although aimed squarely at U.S.
radio stations, Decca decided to press up a small batch of copies for distribution in the UK which were allocated the catalogue number RSM 1 .
The U.S.
version on the London label was given the catalogue number RSD-1 .
Covers for both the U.S.
U.K.
versions were printed in the U.S.
and all carried the RSD-1 catalogue number.
However there are differences between the two, the main one being that the U.S.
LP lists the Stones U.S.
album catalogue on the right side of the rear panel - on the UK version this area is blank.
Contemporary information from Decca in the UK stated that just 200 copies of RSM 1 were pressed, compared to 1,000-1,500 copies of the U.S.
RSD 1 .
SIGNED COPIES It is believed that around 20 copies were signed by the band in October 1969 during a session at Olympic Studios.
Recent research has suggested that Charlie Watts was absent from that session and that Bill Wyman signed on his behalf.
The example on offer here is one of the only 12 signed examples known to exist today.
We acquired this one from an ex-BBC Radio 1 producer who had received it from Decca in 1969.
It came to him as you see it here - with poster inner-sleeve but no letter or booklet.
Regular UK copies rarely come up for sale and signed copies almost never, so this may be your only opportunity to acquire this ultimate Stones vinyl collectible.
Both labels are the small blue silver boxed Decca variety with the catalogue number: RSM.
1 Matrix numbers: XARL-9205-2A XARL-9206-1A Stamper codes: 1/B 1/B Vinyl weight: 151g Housed in a slick-on-posterboard cover printed in the U.S.
but with UK rear panel layout.
Complete with full colour factory-folded poster.
and original poly-lined red/mono Decca inner-sleeve.
CONDITION Disc Labels: MINT Both are immaculate and without any spindle marks around either centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT Both playing surfaces retain all of their deep-gloss factory shine and are free from any cloudy or dull areas.
The only visual blemishes on the disc appear on side 2 - they are: a tiny 4mm scratch at the end of track 2, a 2mm one at the end of track 3 together with a 1.5cm non-feelable hairline.
Examination beneath halogen light reveals nothing more than some faint wispy paper and a sparkling rainbow shine.
Both sides of the disc lie 100 flat when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT Superb clean clear sound quality throughout, free from any trace of any groove/playwear, crackle or background interference.
The aforementioned scratches produce several light clicks at the end of Under My Thumb , a couple at the end of Stupid Girl .
There are also three soft pops at the end of the fade of Sympathy For The Devil caused by the hairline.
Despite these minor audible distractions this is a barely played, well looked after copy which would be virtually impossible to upgrade.
In fact, the original recipient could not remember ever having played it at all and told us he just put it on the shelf on after it arrived and left it there for 40 years.
Cover: VERY GOOD The images in this listing describe the condition best but to summarize: the cover is fully intact with light storage/shelf wear and is without any major faults.
The front panel is clean with some light storage rubbing to the header slight toning to the spine edge.
There is minor shelfwear to the corners, but none are bumped or split.
Both opening edges are clean with no tears or feathering.
The all-important rear panel is nice and clean with just a light disc impression from storage to the upper and lower areas.
All of the signatures are clean bold with no smudges or fading.
There are a couple of tiny nicks to the upper seam, but it and the lower one are fully intact, unstressed unsplit.
There is some cracking to the paper on the spine, but both sets of text are readable.
Don t miss out on this chance to own this incredible Stones rarity which will continue to increase in value.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT Poster: MINT Unhung factory-folded.
