An extremely rare UK press, with great vinyl, TOP AUDIO and great cover.
Owned by me since new, and kept stored upright and wrapped in a specialist record box.
Please Note: I have carefully tested every minute of these vinyls it to ensure the sound quality, as new or unplayed vinyls can still have audio flaws or poor audio quality.
And I should also state that unplayed does not necessarily mean perfect audio.
I have collected numerous new unplayed vinyls over the years and they can play with poor sound, static and pops, so this is a true rarity.
This incredible pressing has been carefully tested and the AUdio is MINT, as near perfect as vinyl sound can be The Wall is the eleventh studio album by Pink Floyd.
Released as a double album on 30 November 1979, it was subsequently performed live with elaborate theatrical effects, and adapted into the feature film, Pink Floyd The Wall.
As with the band s previous three studio albums The Wall is a concept album, and deals largely with themes of alienation and personal isolation.
It was first conceived during the band s 1977 In the Flesh Tour, when bassist and lyricist Roger Waters s frustration with the spectators perceived boorishness became so acute that he imagined building a wall between the performers and audience.
The Wall features a notably harsher and more theatrical style than Pink Floyd s previous releases.
The album was recorded in several locations.
In France, Super Bear Studios was used between January and July 1979, with Waters recording his vocals at the nearby Studio Miraval.
Michael Kamen supervised the orchestral arrangements at CBS Studios in New York, in September.
Over the next two months the band used Cherokee Studios and The Village Recorder in Los Angeles.
A plan to work with the Beach Boys at the Sundance Productions studio in Los Angeles was cancelled.
For a week in November they worked at the Producers Workshop, also in Los Angeles.
Keyboardist Richard Wright left the band during the album s production but remained as a salaried musician, performing with Pink Floyd during The Wall Tour.
Commercially successful upon its release, the album was one of the best selling of 1980, and as of 1999, it had sold over 23 million RIAA certified units 11.5 million albums in the United States.
The Wall was released in the UK on 30 November 1979, and about a week later in the US.
The album topped the Billboard charts for 15 weeks, and in 1999 was certified 23x platinum.
It remains one of the best-selling albums of all time in the US, between 1979 and 1990 selling over 19 million copies worldwide.
In this sense The Wall is second only to 1973 s The Dark Side of the Moon.
ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING: Yes brilliant - superb sound quality throughout The Wall is a highly complex, theatrical collection of music, and is also a very sensitive piece of vinyl, and hard to find in clear audio condition.
Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like The Happiest Days of our Lives.
It is up there with Wish You Were Here and Animals in terms of long empty sections, and is possibly the hardest of all Floyd albums to find with bright clear audio, unaffected by noise, clicks and static.
I actually find it quite hard to listen to as it is so prone to surface noise, pops, clicks and static, so listening to this 1st press was an absolute joy.
Superb by any vinyl standards.
This is a truly UNIQUE collectable I m delighted to say that this pressing has genuinely crystal clear audio.
Super clear sound and absolutely the most minimal background static that can be found on any vinyl.
There is certainly no dominant interference, and no pops or clicks or distortion.
It really sounds amazing and plays with great sound separation and clarity Superb sound, every track has been tested and I could find no sound blemishes.
Wonderful TOP audio, there is NO distortion, and obviously NO sticks or jumps what so ever.
I will give a detailed account below: The Wall opens with a few sections of ultra quiet music, that is virtually always heavily over shadowed with static.
Here the opening bars are just incredibly clear.
Bursting in with In The Flesh this great track starts the record with great audio, just great bright sound.
The Thin Ice , such a hard track for the The Wall, nearly always prone to heavy wear being such a quiet track on the record, here sounds great.
No pops or clicks during the music.
Just the occasional ultra light static tic only.
Another Brick In The Wall sounds crisp and clear, as does The Happiest days of Our lives .
One or two random static tics and thats it.
Another Brick In The Wall part 2 also sounds great, with just perfect audio.
A silent intro to Mother, it plays with great sound, with no background static, the occasional ultra light static tic only, and this is another ultra quiet track always prone to heavy static and loud pops and clicks.
Truly incredible.
Side 2.
of The Wall virtually always starts of with heavy static.
There are a couple of minutes of no music, and there is nearly always a lot of surface noise.
Here there is virtually none.
Moving into the intro of Goodbye Blue Sky not a single pop or click throughout.
A few light static tics but certainly nothing intrusive.
Here the sound is so deep and powerful, and its a silent as vinyl can get The long quiet Empty Rooms plays perfectly, as is the same with Dirty Woman, which sounds fantastic.
In the long quiet intro to One of My Turns , one of the quietest parts on the record, it plays with no distortion, NO hiss NO light pops, unbelievable clear audio, even during the ultra quiet phone call section.
The music clears again and then back to brilliant sound as the actual track starts.
Then not a single loud pop anywhere on the track, or the whole record for that matter.
I ll repeat, there are no loud pops, no loud tics and not a hint of distortion anywhere on this great record.
Don t Leave Me now has great clear sound.
There are a few tics but no loud pops or clicks and no distortion.
There is not a hint of distortion anywhere on any tracks of these vinyls.
Side 2.
ends with a crystal clear Goodbye Cruel World .
Amazing.
Side 3.
begins with some very slight static at the start of Hey You , but it is light and fades into the music.
I ve yet to hear ANY pressing of the Wall that plays with no static at all.
I have to state though, this is very light and brief and the track plays with crystal clear sound.
Moving into the paired down Is There Anybody Out There which also plays great, with no pops or clicks, and minimal occasional light background static, the kind found on all vinyls, and the incredibly poignant instrumental piece plays superbly.
Little Black Book , one of the other quietest tracks on the album sings out with silence in the run ins and quiet areas.
Great music with great clarity, and so hard to find with this type of sound.
There is a heart beat at the very start of the track which builds as the tracks moves on, and is virtually impossible to hear during the intro on normal pressings.
This is as perfect as vinyl audio can be.
Vera and Comfortably Numb continue with the same standard, playing superbly still with no pops, clicks and minimal static to be found.
Side 4.
and The Show Must Go On and In the Flesh sounds amazing, with perfect sound quality.
Run Like Hell plays with bright clear sound, absolutely perfect, with no static or interference at all.
As does Stop and The Trial , which plays so clear and bright.
There is even a split second laugh in the middle of Stop which is virtually always lost under the music.
The quiet interlude in the middle sounds spot on, so clear and no interference to be found.
The quiet intro to the trial also plays superbly, with virtually no surface sound to be detected what so ever.
A couple of tics, and thats it.
The long outro Outside the Wall , a track that can be plague by unwanted noise, sounds superb, with no pops or clicks, a bit of very very light static but on this press sounding great.
This is a truly outstanding piece.
The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, the vocals which come through with tremendous power.
Its the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear.
There are no dips in the sound quality and that is a massive surprise for The Wall.
This is a truly great listen.
The tonal quality make this a sensational pressing.
With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten.
A great all round example of this classic vinyl.
This is a great Audio pleasure and I would have to give the Audio a NEAR MINT to MINT grading.
I should state that no vinyl will ever play with total silence, only cds do that and they have a completely different sound to vinyl.
On saying that it is virtually impossible to find a vinyl pressing of the Wall that sounds like this Great first stereo mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact.
A great all round example of this great vinyl.
THE RECORD Virtually unmarked vinyls.
What are the chances of being able to purchase a pressing of the this great album, that has only been barely played, let alone played once.
This is a superb set of glossy vinyls, and a really thick pressing.
Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original pressings, the record has great shine, with NO scratches and NO hairlines.
Inspected under a spot light, there are barely any paper removal marks, a few ultra light whispy lines only, and sleeve removal marks, that you really have to squint to see.
This is a stunning example, truly archive quality.
Easily grades at NEAR MINT.
VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING: Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.
THE LABELS - NEAR MINT to MINT Flawless labels, with virtually NO spindle traces at all.
A couple of ultra light barely visible traces on side 1 and 4 only.
NO wear around the spindle hole Amazing examples of this rare classic 1st press.
Absolutely beautiful THE COVER Original 1st issue UK Gatefold cover in light cream cover and purple / pale blue two tone brick outlines.
The cover design is one of Pink Floyd s most minimal a white brick wall and no text the logo and band name came presented on a clear vinyl sticker .
Waters had fallen out with Hipgnosis designer Storm Thorgerson several years earlier, when the latter had included the cover of Animals in his book Walk Away Rene, and The Wall is therefore the first Pink Floyd album cover since The Piper at the Gates of Dawn not created by the design group.
The LP s sleeve art and custom picture labels by cartoonist Gerald Scarfe tied in with the album s concept, with each of the four sides showing the eponymous wall in various stages of construction, accompanied by characters from the story.
The Front Cover shows a brick wall that is cream coloured, not true white, with the brick outlines in purple / pale blue.
The cover is made from a single sheet of wrap-around cardboard with the seam across the inner top edge of the cover.
The bricks on the front cover are not aligned right to the bottom of the cover.
Second press covers were made of two sheets of cardboard, with seams at the top and bottom of the cover.
A near perfect 1st press cover with the only the slight of handling wear.
A great example, with NO ring wear, minimal corner wear and handling marks.
Grades at EXCELLENT PLUS.
THE INNERS Heavy cardboard 1st press inner sleeves with rounded corners and a nine-inch thumb notch.
Crucially these 1st press inner only have Roger Waters name on them, which was later changed due to numerous growing disputes within the band.
Original pressings have just the catalogue number of the specific record listed on a single line in the lower right corner of the inner sleeve, SHSP 4111 while all later pressings also have the catalogue number of the album SHDW 411 , pressing OC-158 63410 , and the record number SHSP 4111 .
NEAR MINT condition, NO tears, NO wear at the tops.
Crisp and Clean.
STICKER Nearly always missing, this great 1st pressings comes with its original 1st press clear sticker, which is in great condition.
It will come in a protective envelope to ensure that it stays that way, as that how I have stored it from new.
NEAR MINT condition, NO tears, NO wear at the tops.
Crisp and Clean.
RARITY A 1st PRESS of THE WALL in reasonable condition is scarce.
The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound.
And its an album that is incredibly prone to loss of sound.
Any 1st examples with a record in great condition is a rarity, and getting rarer by the day.
Finding a complete original press in virtually UNPLAYED condition makes this a Unique piece, an Ultimate rarity and a very rare opportunity for a serious Pink Floyd / vinyl collector.
A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY GREAT COVERS WITH NO SEAM SPLITS, NO TEARS, NO WRITING, NO STICKERS.GREAT VINYLS WITH NO LOUD CLICKS OR POPS, NO JUMPS OR REPEATS - GUARANTEED SCRUPULOUS EXAMINATION and TESTING PLEASE NOTE:This record has been play tested on highly sensitive equipment to ensure the sound quality and accuracy of description.
I aim to give a precise and concise description of the sound quality, pointing out any defects so that you know what you are buying.
I will not go into screeds of information about the nature of the songs, as I imagine that you already know them well.
I aim to describe all items as accurately as possible, and offer a full refund on return if for any reason you are not completely happy with the item description..VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:The highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and is what I always aim for.
I only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance, super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference.
Even with the cleanest copies you will find occasional static sound or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves.
This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl.
Any static build up will reduce when played, and I advise a light clean should be given between plays for optimal performance.
VINYLLarge format art work covers with the original sound and mix unique to vinyl and of the highest quality audio.
Vinyl record have always been loved and have become a great investment opportunity, with prices soaring over the last ten years, making classic pieces a great financial as well as a cultural investment.
