Item Description
I sell vinyl records with complete honesty and reliability.
Above all things I am a record collector and music lover.
I only sell records that I would want to receive.
I know well the disappointment of receiving an over-graded record that turns up two weeks late.
That is not the service you will receive here, so bid with total confidence.
I don t sell a lot of records because I spend a lot of time carefully finding, grading and listing them and do not like to rush this process, as many sellers must do to be able to sell 100 records a week I am mostly a collector of old time music, pre-war blues and folk, so buy job-lots that often contain rare records that aren t to my taste so to eBay they go On that note, if you have any early American blues or folk vinyl or shellac to swap or sell, please get in touch I have only 20 records left to sell and these are my true gems.
They came to me from a nuclear engineer who played them once to record to cassette, wrapped them outside of their sleeves and filed them away.
They are, without a doubt, the most pristine records I have come across and I would hasten a guess the best in existence for most.
Please keep watching if you want a chance of getting hold of some incredibly rare, museum quality vinyl.
Anyway, enough of the chit chat and on to the record at hand Pink FloydDark Side of the MoonA2/B2 Blue Sleeve1973SHVL 804HarvestStereoHere we have what most be the rarest of all the possible Dark Side pressings.
It is very specific in its rarity but if you are a true collector, read on:This lp was released in 1973 - just before the harvest label change, from the gramophone company edge text, to the emi records edge text.
In fact this lp is one of the last lps ever to be released with the gramophone company edge text on the harvest label and, as many people will already know - the earliest 1st pressings of this lp had a solid blue triangle - and this was changed almost immediately after release to match the cover .
not only that but the gramophone company edge text was changed at almost the same time - and dropped in favour of emi records text that followed on all later pressings However - just before the gramophone company edge text changed and just after the solid blue triangles ended, only a tiny handful were pressed with a transparent triangle and gramophone company label edge text This makes this lp very very rare indeed Only an absolutely tiny handful were ever pressed like this - and it is without any doubt the rarest possible variation of this lp ever made This lp is also made even rarer still - as it is undoubtedly the all time rarest pressing of this lp ever made This is because this lp incredibly still has 1st press A-2 B-2 matrix endings 99 of copies with 1st press a-2 b-2 matrix endings of course, have the common sold blue triangle labels.
however so far, only 3 stampers or 900 copies have ever been found with transparent labels and still having 1st press a-2 b-2 matrixes most have the later a-3 b-2 matrixes instead and this undoubtedly makes this the all time rarest pressing of this lp ever - as only around 1000 copies were ever made But there is also 1 massive added bonus to this lp which makes it the earliest standard pressing ever made - as this lp has 1 more amazing rarity that all later ones never had when the labels were first changed from the solid blue triangle to the transparent triangle - the colour was incorrect on the earliest transparent triangles only They incorrectly used exactly the same colour as the middle of the solid blue triangle on the transparent labels - which was far too light, and still hid some of the text This was corrected almost immediately after the change - and if you compare this earliest transparent pressing - with any later pressing, you can clearly see that it is a completely different wrong colour later ones are turquoise - on this label the triangle is simply very light blue and also much thicker and far more solid looking This lp is made even rarer still - as it still has the earliest 1st press dark blue cover later ones don t , the dark blue cover is factory folded , it has 1st press a-2 b-2 matrix endings, and it has the earliest 1st press silver text black die-cut inner sleeve later ones don t not only that but this lp is in absolutely mint condition with an awesome record The posters stickers dont ever look to have left the cover - and are in fantastic condition just take a look at the pictures This is the original 1973 uk earliest standard light blue transparent pressing on the earliest possible lighter blue transparent triangle harvest label with gramophone company edge text, 1st press silver text black inner sleeve later ones dont , 1st press posters 2 permanent stickers, 1st press a-2 b-2 matrix endings, and earliest 1st press garrod lofthouse gatefold cover - which is dark blue in colour and not black and factory folded this is easily the rarest possible variation of this lp ever pressed and virtually impossible to find like this - so dont miss out on this amazing opportunity This is a one in a million in that it is THE rarest possible copy and is in STUNNING condition throughout This is your final upgrade Matrix NumbersSide 1: SHVL 804 A-2Side 2: SHVL 804 B-2 Sleeve Condition. The Matt finish covers of DSOM have to be one of the most prone to wear, of all the classic vinyls from the sixties and early seventies.
Being matt finish and not having the advantage of being laminated, these covers usually faired pretty badly, with serious ring wear and scuffed along the edges.
The Spines are nearly always flattened, worn and scuffed.
Not this one This 1st press comes with its original 1st Press Blue Cover.
The blue-ish tint covers that came with the first pressings, quickly changed to the standard charcoal black covers.
And dont be fooled, these are complex different to all other covers from the UK pressings of DSOM.
These covers themselves are rare and very valuable, and so hard to find with out heavily worn edges, corners and surfaces.
This 1st Press BLUE Cover has no scuffing to the corners, or rubbing along the edges, and that is virtually un heard of for DSOM.
The opening edges are very square and totally un frayed, with NO detectable ring wear on either the rear or front cover, again unheard of.
The back cover is nice and clean, again with only a very light impression of the vinyl.
The inside Gatefold is clean and virtually unmarked and bears the famous DSOM sticker.
The Spine shows NO WEAR, and is a nice square example.
All round, this is a really amazing example that is largely unmarked.
Bar a touch of minor shelf wear, this looks as new Final Upgrade 1st Press Nr MINT Inner Sleeve Condition.Original plain black poly lined inner sleeve in Nr Mint condition.
No tears, stains, just some light creasing and NO seem splits at all And dont be fooled, these are completely different to all other inner sleeves from the UK pressings of DSOM as they have the silver patent and Made in Great Britain text.
These inners are themselves rare and valuable, and so hard to find with out heavy wear, graffiti, tears and splitting.
Nr MInt Label Condition. The iconic labels are simply perfect.
The uber-rare light blue of the once solid prism looks just perfect.
There are no rips, wear or writing at all.
There is no centre hole damage at all.
Unheard of Nr MINT Label Condition. The first press posters and stickers have never left the sleeve and as such are MINTMINT Vinyl Visual Condition. The record itself looks perfect on eye inspection It still retains its factory shine and lustre and looks as new.
You really can distinguish between a Nr mint and Excellent grading, only when holding a true near mint record that just radiates perfection Under a strong halogen, there is barely any sign of use at all.
Just the lightest of removal ghosts to be seen.
In reviewing this copy, I have probably removed it more times than it has been in its 50-year age Nr Mint Vinyl Audio Condition.Dark Side Of The Moon is a musical masterpiece and is also famously a very sensitive piece of vinyl.
Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like On The Run .
I am a huge fan of DSOTM, and also highly critical of the audio performance.
I just cant stand to hear a pressing that is worn or plays with anything other than great clear sound.
I am very pleased to say that this rare 1st pressing plays through with great, very bright un disturbed audio.
This great record plays up to the high visual grading and beyond .
It really is a tremendous example.
Strong sound free of any loud pops or clicks.
It looks and plays unplayed.
The channels are clean and unstressed and there is not even a hint of distortion anywhere on the record.
There is some light occasional static at the very start of the record and occasionally after that, but it is very very light..
The audio plays through with brilliant strong and clear sound.
I would say it plays with NR MINT audio throughout.
This is the ultimate 1st press of DSOM,.
I will give a detailed account below: This great sounding record starts with surprisingly little static in that famous extremely long run in heart beat intro to Speak to Me .
Just great clear sound, the track plays superbly with the occasional very light tic the kind found on all vinyls .
Breathe , another delicate track also sounds fantastically clear and the whole of the fist side really plays with superbly clear audio throughout.
On the Run , so often heavily distorted and affected by clicks and hiss plays through with amazing clarity and bright loud sound.
Being very critical I did notice one very light single click in the middle but it would be very easy to miss.
Time sounds great with super clear sound, no pops of clicks and barely any noticeable static.
This track just sounds amazing, its so bright and clear, and so is Breathe reprise which is such a delicate down track and very hard to find with even half way clear sound.
Here its just brilliant.
Even the stunning Great Gig in The Sky , such a difficult track to find with clear sound, plays superbly.
One light tic on the middle and a bit of very light static in the intro, but again nothing obtrusive.
Money kicks in side 2.
with amazing clear, largely flawless audio, other than a light pop in the middle of the track.
It plays with an amazing bassy, sonic feel, the original sound that is very hard to find, and lost on most pressings.
Us and them starts amazingly clear with a bit of light static only.
This slight static is low level, very infrequent, and very light, the kind you will find on all vinyl.
This track is nearly always plagued by loud pops, clicks, static and even distortion, and this press has none of these, it just sounds superbly clean and bright.
Any Colour you Like sounds superb, great clear sound.
Any background static I have to insist is far in the background, and in no way dominates or interferes with the music.
You have to get up close to the speakers to hear it.
Then its gone and the sound is great.
Brain Damage sounds superb, bright clear sound leading to the albums climax, with a great pressing of Eclipse , with plays superbly, with brilliant clear audio.
No pops or clicks or interference at all.
Just great clear sound. The record plays with staggering power, great audio with minimal interference to distract from the enjoyment of this great record.
There is hardly even any surface or static noise between the tracks.
Even at the end of Time and the run in to the Great Gig In the Sky , it is clean, crisp and rich.
There is the occasional light dust pop but certainly nothing repetitive anywhere.
The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals, which come through with tremendous power.
As is the same with the bass and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear.
On the whole this lp plays with superb, clear bright audio.
I have given a detailed account and l believe I have been unforgiving in pointing out the slightest audio interference on what is a tremendous 1st ever pressing.
I would give an overall audio grading of NEAR MINT Nr MINT So there we have it.
An absolutely stunning example of one of the rarest available copies of Dark Side of the Moon in existence.
Far rarer than a solid blue 1st press which come up quite regularly, this LP has only sold once in the past 6 months and that was a fairly well played copy selling at 700.
