PINK FLOYD
Brescia 1971
FRANCE - FROG / KERI RECORDS
MEGA RARE...
Noted that ages ago in the 70s only 50 COPIES were produced with PINK VINYL ... this double LP set pressed in Europe so many years ago represents Pink Floyd on a magical evening, back 45 years ago, just before they soared into fame and fortune. ... Never had or saw a copy of this one - think twice
In 1971, Pink Floyd were already a band established itself in the landscape of alternative music which was more or less identified with the progressive rock movement , commercially they had had some good results, but certainly not the same type that theu would unfold in the eight years later. From a purely artistic point the band already had a respectable curriculum, from which you, the listener, can draw many interesting conclusions.
Under the guidance of Syd Barrett, they had explored the outer reaches of thinking music and revealed in their music all sorts of mental adventures. Lost in space Barrett, gone in one of those trips he praised, led by Waters, the Floydiana production became far more grandiose. It ran from experiencing new ways of writing music, exploration of new frontiers linked to production. The four studio records Saucerful of Secrets , Ummagumma , Atom Heart Mother and Meddle and the two soundtracks More and Zabriskie Point , showed an eclectic band, which injected the blues basics and esoteric experimentations of the second album, then evolved through the four sides of the monumental solitary Ummagumma , and on to the baroque progressive Atom Heart Mother , to the classic psychedelia of More and Zabriskie Point , only to arrive at the turning point LP Meddle that, in our opinion, represented the rehearsal for the epochal Dark Side of the Moon .
1971 is therefore a year of transition for Floyd, during which they found the road that led them throughout the years. The results we are dealing with is an interesting example of pre-Floyd Dark Side. In essence, it is this very double Lp set containing the complete recording although the sequence of the songs is not the same as the concert itself of the Brescia concert of June 19, 1971 the date shown on the cover is incorrect, since it refers to the concert took place the next day at the Sports Palace in Rome. This LP edition of the performance is very rare on PINK VINYL which had a limited edition of 50 copies.
It is needless to describe this fantastic album track by track , as it is absolutely a frozen in wax time capsule of all the great masterpieces of the first era by the Cambridge UK quartet. In particular Atom Heart Mother , being a superior version without the orchestra. Inevitably it is the selection of Careful With That Axe, Eugene with its devastating howl by Roger Waters that delivers the esoteric sound that was the trademark of the first productions of this classic track. The climax of this performance, as in all the performances of the two-year period 1970 - 1971 was represented by Fat Old Sun and the mythical solo by Gilmour, the prototype in practice of all the solos, that this refined guitarist proposed to us in all the years to come by Time Up to Comfortably Numb .
