Item Description

ALL IMAGES ARE ACTUAL ITEM FOR SALE, NOT STOCK IMAGES.HERE WE HAVE A VERY VERY RARE UK COLUMBIA RELEASE FROM 1968.
PINK FLOYD A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS UK EMI 1st PRESS IN MONO ORIGINAL BLUE / BLACK LABEL WITH SOLD IN THE UK...
LABEL TEXT AND GILMOUR MIS-SPELLED GILMORE SX 6258 - MONO Almost impossible to find this LP in Mono with an original blue / black label.
First released in July 1968, this was the first LP to feature Dave Gilmour on guitar and is unique in being the only original studio album to have both Syd Barrett and Dave Gilmour compositions.
This LP was not a big seller when first released in 1968 and was considered to be underground, alternative and even Avant-garde.
Twelve months later EMI changed the Columbia label to be black with a white logo and silver print.
Approximately 7,000 mono copies were shipped in the first twelve months, before this change occurred making this one on the rarest UK prog rock albums released to the general public and easily the rarest original Pink Floyd album.
RECORD: EXCELLENT please read grading description below, this record is not mint, but is in near mint playing condition, with no audible marks, very clean audio all the was through, despite some very light surface marks to both playing surfaces.
Please read section regarding grading at the bottom of this listing PLAY GRADED: NEAR MINT ORIGINAL FRONT LAMINATED.
FLIP BACK SLEEVE : Very Good some storage wear, but no splits, tears or hand writing and the spine is excellent and perfectly readable.
Minor wear and tear to corners commensurate with age, please see additional images It has been pointed out to me that the sleeve is printed SCX 6258, which refers to the Stereo version on this record.
This is really odd, because this record came with a collection of 70 prog rock albums dating from 1968 to 1975, all of which were in their original inner as well as outer sleeves, which leads me to believe that this record may well have been shipped from the factory in the wrong sleeve, although, I have no evidence for this other than that of the other records all being correct.
I originally listed this record as being a Stereo 1st press, but clearly it is a Mono first press, which is considerably rarer and more valuable than its Stereo counterpart.
ORIGINAL EMI ADVERTISING INNER SLEEVE - Excellent RARE UK EMI Mono 1st PRESS IN EXCELLENT ALL ROUND CONDITION.
MATRICES: SIDE 1: XAX.3633-1 SIDE 2: XAX.3634-1 EMI STAMPER CODES: SIDE 1: 1P SIDE 2: 1M ONE OF THE FIRST 6,000 PRESSED.
I have 100 feed back and most of my customers consider my grading conservative, please see feed back comments and the note on grading at the bottom of this listing.
No quibble refund on any item which you are not 100 happy with.
UK domestic Postage is free via Royal Mail second class packet post, for which proof of postage is always obtained to prove to you and to eBay that the package was sent to the address requested, within the specified time period, in the unlikely event that it should go missing in transit.
No compensation is offered, should you take up the free postage option.
Alternative postage options are offered at the point of invoice, these are: Royal Mail second class Recorded delivery and Royal Mail first class Recorded delivery for a faster delivery both cover up to 46.00 loss or damage International postage is via Royal Mail International service.
The estimated cost to ROW is shown below, for an accurate P P cost to your area, please ask the question.
POSTAGE AND PACKING INCLUDING MULTIPLE WIN DISCOUNTS FOR 7 SINGLES EPs AND LPs PLEASE NOTE, IMPORTANT:: I am more than happy to offer postage discounts for multiple wins, after all, it s the postage that deflates collector s enthusiasm for buying on line , however, as a seller on eBay I have to cover my costs.
For this reason it is vital that you wait for your invoice before paying for multiple items.
Once you have paid for an item, I package and post immediately, so if you pay for one, then pay for another one two hours later, there s a good chance that the first one will already be packed and labelled, ready to post if not already posted, in fact , in which case, I will be unable to offer postage discounts.
I am happy to delay the invoice for up to 5 working days if you are bidding on multiple items, beyond that, please send me a message to extend, so that I know what s going on.
Items offered postage free are sent out Royal Mail second class only, for which I ALWAYS obtain a proof of postage certificate, which fulfils my free postage obligation.
Should you require a signed for service, which guarantees the delivery of your item, the post and packing charges are offer at cost as an additional option when you check out.
I enclose all LP records in a self seal poly sleeve to protect against oil / solvent / fuel contamination as well as water deposits in transit and secure them between two stiffeners before sealing up the outer mailer to ensure maximum double pack protection.
I mention this because I have received goods from free postage vendors, who make no effort whatsoever to pack goods safely.

I try to play grade as many records as possible, but it is not always possible to do this, so if you feel that any record you have purchased is not graded accurately, please let me know.
I offer a no quibble refund on any item if you are not 100 happy with it, provided you have not left negative feed back before contacting me.
Records which have been play graded have been done so in my home studio on broadcast quality equipment at a comfortable listening volume.
All equipment is professional grade and includes EMT turntables, Alice BBC spec.
mixing desk , Denon professional amplifier and Bose 802 installation monitor speakers.
You may have a more or less sensitive HiFi system than this, but I believe that it provides a fair industry reference quality grading.
Of course grading will always be subjective to some extent, which is why I offer a no quibble refund as outlined above, should you not agree with my grading.
By way of clarification, the RRPG grading descriptions are listed below: I will on occasions use and signs to indicate a grading which falls between the following descriptions in order to give a more accurate idea of condition.
