SUPER RARE ORIGINAL PRIVATE LABEL progressive pop psych album from Aussie singer Barrington Davis circa 1972, TRACKS OF MIND. And in ARCHIVE shape too There were only 4 records released on the tiny Montagu label, and 3 of em were from Bruce Spelman. After one highly valuable late 60 s Aussie psych single, Barrington worked with the Bee Gees and the Masters Apprentices before finally laying down his masterpiece, a dark, solemn brooding album of heady trippy slow-burning progressive pop and psychedelia, led by his soaring vocals. Check out the first cut Strange Days and the Pink Floyd-ish Topaz Sky below
ORIGINAL 1972 pressing on the UK Montagu label. Cover s in EXCELLENT shape save for a very small almost unnoticeable tear near the opening of the sleeve on the front. Oh yeah, and it s got the lyric inner sleeve too, so it s absolutely stone cold complete
Let s be honest - vinyl grading these days is very subjective. That s why I ll give you some soundclips with each auction so you can judge for yourself how the album sounds - every clip comes from the album you re bidding on. If I were to grade this one, I d say it s an archive copy, playing EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT with only a few scattered pops probably due to the tiny pressing more than anything. But, above all, listen for yourself and decide. Soundclips are at the very bottom of this listing.
