The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive,
you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in
the post For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong
sturdy packaging in a box mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting.
They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy
with your purchase. The Smiths - William It Was Really Nothing - Italian Promo 12 - 1984
Catalogue no. VINX71 - Rough Trade Records
For many collectors, this is one of the most important and desirable items in The Smith back catalogue as it represents an official release which was incorrectly pressed with a unique studio outtake of How Soon Is Now? . The differences in the track are well-documented, but it is a slightly strange experience nonetheless to play the vinyl and hear a different version of this quintessential Smiths track. The track begins in an almost-identical way until, at just over 2 minutes into the track the unique additional vocal harmonies begin. At around the 4-minute mark, Morrissey sings a falsetto version of the harmonies and then, almost bizarrely, Morrissey is heard to say okay at around 6 minutes into the track and the music abruptly stops the guitars then briefly fade back in before fading out once more. This Italian mispressed vinyl is the only place in which this outtake version was released, and it is a pleasure to own the original vinyl from the point of view of a Smiths collector. This copy is even more scarce in that it is the promotional version which has been pin-stamped on the sleeve with Campione Gratuito in the corner of the outer sleeve as well as being stamped on the A-side record label see photos . Copies of the standard mispressed release are extremely rare, being listed at Number 9 in the 2005 Smiths Top 100 Record Collector magazine article, but official promotional versions such as this are even rarer since only a handful were allegedly produced. Other differences which make this release special are the small differences in the sleeve and record label designs, including the brighter shade of green on the sleeve artwork and the Virgin record label credits and unique catalogue number on the reverse see photos . Copies of this rarity have escalated in value since the 2005 estimate of 300.00 for the non-promotional standard version in 2005, with one having sold quickly on the EIL site recently for 550.00, and it seems certain that its value will continue to soar. This copy is in superb condition see below and you may never see another copy of the promotional version of this record for sale which has been preserved in such condition.
The vinyl and labels are in terrific strong excellent condition, having clearly been played no more than a few times and having been extremely well looked-after. There are only a few very light hairline superficial surface scuff marks on the vinyl in one or two places the vinyl appears bright and glossy when held to the light. The labels are very clean, and have no writing or significant marks on them other than the promotional stamp on the A-side and a few light spindle marks. The outer sleeve is also in strong excellent condition, with no writing or major creasing anywhere. There is just some mild wear to the corners in a few places and one seam-split in the middle of the lower edge, but nothing that overly spoils the appearance of this cherished sleeve. There are some very light beginnings of creases towards the mouth of the sleeve from normal use, and the overall impression of the sleeve is extremely good. A superb example of this outstanding collectable rarity. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail note that the Ebay ID lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.

Postage and Packing is 3.90 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 90p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer see below . I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.
