'The Cutting Edge 1965-1966' schlägt das neueste Kapitel der Bootleg-Series auf, die sich diesmal ganz auf die Aufnahmesessions zu Dylans Meisterwerken 'Bringing lt All Back Home', 'Highway 61 Revisited' und 'Blonde On Blonde' konzentriert . Mit diesen drei Alben veränderte Dylan maßgeblich die Geschichte der populären Musik und zementierte seinen Ruf als Songwriter und Performer der Sonderklasse, dem niemand in Sachen Originalität und Tiefgründigkeit das Wasser reichen konnte. Auf der sechs CDs umfassenden Deluxe-Edition sind unveröffentlichte Tracks, Outtakes, Probenmitschnitte und alternative Versionen der Studioaufnahmen dieser drei Alben versammelt, während 'The Best Of The Cutting Edge 1965-1966' als Doppel-CD und (inhaltlich identische) Dreifach-LP einen Querschnitt dieser Aufnahmen abbildet. Sämtliche Aufnahmen wurden anhand der Original-Mehrspurbänder abgemischt. Zudem sind alle Varianten, wie schon bei den früheren Folgen der Bootleg Series üblich, mit ausführlichen Booklets (bei der Deluxe-Variante als Hardcover-Buchausgabe) ausgestattet. Liner Notes u.a. von Bill Flanagan und Sean Wilentz sowie Hunderte von seltenen Fotos und Abbildungen zeitgenössischer Memorabilia runden die Sets ab.
