Item Description
MOZART PARIS 1763 et 1778 PATH DTX 191-197 All the works composed by Mozart in Paris during these years.
And the set celebrates the bicentenary of his birth.
This extremely rare and desirable set of records have only turned up a few times on an auction list as far as I know.
It is easy to agree with Dave Canfield, one of the most experienced of dealers in classical records, who claims this to be perhaps the rarest and most sought after set of records on the market.
But here it is in all its glory.
Seven records to commemorate Mozart s bicentenary in 1956.
All the records are in very good condition and play superbly and to find these records in such fine condition more than 55 years after their first publication is rare indeed.
Not only are the records in prime condition but the playing of the artists involved are on an extremely high musical level.
You rarely hear such committed interpretations as the ones you encounter on these French Path LPs in the set.
Before a more detailed description of the LPs a short comment on some of the musicians taking part in the set may be appropriate.
For all those interested in great French pianists you find such names as Marcel Ciampi Jeanne-Marie Darr , Lucette Descaves, Jean Doyen, Samson Francois, Lazare-Levy, Vlado Perlemuter.
And among other instrumentalists there are Ren Benedetti, Jacques Dumont on violin, and Quator Pascal in one of Mozart s early quartets and many other superb musicians.
At the helmet of the orchestral contributions there is Fernand Oubradous a most accomplished conductor and much sought after by collectors.Deatiled content: Pathe DTX 191-97 - Original Green / Silver Labels - Luxury 7 Disc Box Set - Mozart Paris - Directed by Fernand Oubradous - The Complete recording of Parisian Mozart compositions 1763 and 1778 DTX 191: Concerto for Harpsichord and Violin K.supp.56 - Sonata for Harpsichord and Violin, K.6, K.7, K.8 and K.9 - Jacques Dumont Violin - Robert Veyron-Lacroix Harpsichord - Fernand Oubradous Conductor - Kyrie, K.33 - J.Cellier Soprano - S.Michel Contralto - J.Giraudeau Tenor - M.Roux Bass DTX 192: Symphonie Concertante, K.297 - Fernand Oubradous Conductor - P.Pierlot Oboe - J.Lancelot Clarinet - P.Delvescovo Horn and P.Hongne Bassoon - Grande Overture in B Flat Major K.supp.1 No 8 - Fernand Oubradous Conductor DTX 193: Concerto for Harp and Flute in C Major, K.299 - Andante for Flute and Orchestra, K.315 - Lili Laskine Harp - Fran ois-Julien Brun Flute - Fernand Oubradous Conductor DTX 194: Symphonie Parisienne, K.297 - Les Petits Riens - Fernand Oubradous Conductor DTX 195: Popoli di Tessaglia, K.

The box is unfortunately not as perfect as the records themselves and time has most certainly changed a quite bright golden colour into a more subdued yellow one.
The spine also needs some attention as there are some seamsplit at the edges.
Nothing dramatic, though, and the box is still alright quite clean and solid considering its age of more than 55 years The attached booklet/insert 30x30 cm is a joy, though, and in great condition.
Wonderful documentation of the content, short analysis of the compositions, and a most interesting text on Mozart in Paris by Guy Mollat du Jourdin.
All in French Altogether a magnificent set of records worth all your attention But to get all the sonic experience these great records have a Mono Cartridge of 25 micron is preferable.
The records sound great but bear in mind that pressing quality in France was not on the highest technical level in the 50s and some surface noise, occasional small ticks are to be expected.
So a mono switch on your amplifier will improve the sound quality.
Then you will realise why this period, the mid 1950s in gramophone history, is a truly golden era.
As for shipping please notice that I am not a US Citizen.
