Item Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING:
Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.

OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.

Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.

We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.

We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.
Thank you for your interest and support.

TOP COPY ... 1968 BRITISH original a FINAL COLLECTION COPY!

Completely different cover design from the USA issue... Here's the U.K. superior laminated group photo cover with "flap-back" seams in the way that British & European covers were issued in the sixties....

As well contains an extra song NOT on the USA issue: "I'm So Glad" the popular "CREAM" jammer!

Original 1968 UK silver/black UK PARLOPHONE one of the BEST copies you could ever hope to find ...the very first DEEP PURPLE LP.

Scarce PRINTED Parlophone inner sleeve included

Underestimated, hard rock with psychedelic moves ...the band, Deep Purple came into existence because of a musician who never played with the band. Chad Curtis, former drummer of the British Invasion group The Searchers, decided to form a band called Roundabout. He first recruited keyboardist Jon Lord and then guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. He then withdrew from the project but Lord and Blackmore decided to carry on....DEEP PURPLE was born...They recruited bassist Nick Simper, later of WARHORSE, vocalist Rod Evans, later of CAPTAIN BEYOND and drummer Ian Paice, and the new band was complete. A name change, from "Roundabout" was in order and Deep Purple was chosen because it was the name of Ritchie Blackmore쎢s grandmother쎢s favorite song. The original line-up lasted for three albums. They made little impact in their home country of Great Britain but found commercial success in the United States, beginning with this first release, Shades Of Deep Purple, which was issued in July of 1968.Looking back on this first release, and the two that followed, they were far different from the relentless hard rock releases that would follow and sell close to 100 million albums worldwide. While the roots of their hard rock sound could be heard in places, there was also a distinct psychedelic sound present, which was representative of the era.

The best known track, then and now, was 쎢얓Hush.쎢슝 Released as a single, it would reach number four on the Billboard Magazine Pop Singles Chart in the United States and was the song that launched their career. They would never have a single chart higher in the United States. It was psychedelic music at its best with a memorable beat.쎢얓Mandrake Root쎢슝 was written by Blackmore, Lord, and Paice, and had an improvisational/jam like feel to it. It was the type of hard rock that the band would become famous for in the future. The songs all ranged from very good to great. 쎢얓I쎢m So Glad,쎢슝 associated with Cream, was presented in the same format, but lushly filled out, making it feel thick and full bodied, . 쎢얓Hey Joe쎢슝 measures up to Jimi Hendrix쎢s rendition, jabs, ebbs and flows, washing in and over itself so often, that it is quite impossible to tell where the song begins and where it ends ... a psychedelic overture of the first magnitude. The Beatles song, 쎢얓Help,쎢슝 is a very creative cover, spiraling on and on into the open universe ... Purple slowed the tempo down to an almost plodding pace until it was far removed from The Beatles original intent for the song. John Lennon said this is way the Beatles should have performed the song.
