Remastered by Bruce Botnick from the Original Analog Masters Packages replicated to the finest detail Cut by Doug Sax
Recorded at Doors concerts in 1969 and 1970, this incendiary double-live album contains well-known Doors tracks including Who Do You Love and Break On Through . The set list is a fascinating ride through a mesmerizing and controversial concert experience with Jim Morrison, John Densmore, Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzarek. Features replica tip-on jacket paper wrapped board .
Absolutely Live is the first live album released by The Doors in 1970. Many shows were recorded during the 1970 tour to create the Absolutely Live album. The Doors producer, and long time collaborator Paul Rothchild carefully edited the album from many different shows to create one cohesive concert.
Some fans witnessed these performances firsthand, others vicariously through the headlines that seemed to follow every incendiary show. For all, Absolutely Live emerged as the document of a band pushing the limits of what was possible on stage...and in rock n roll itself.
If you want to hear Jim Morrison recorded live and sounding as if he s directly in front of you in 3D, this gives it to you and the jacket promises no overdubs were involved. -

THE DOORS LIVE IN NEW YORK 1970 180 GRAM 2 LP SET - I just finished listening to this LP SET. It s a collection of the Doors recorded at New York s Felt Forum on January 17/18, 1970. All I can say is I ve been really impressed by the quality of the packaging, the sound, as well as the bands performances These concerts were expertly recorded Very clear and atmospheric recordings. The Doors performances were great and often inspired Jim s voice gave out a little in the final show, but he made up for it with his energy and enthusiasm Jim was really into these shows and performed very well.
Some may notice that small parts of the song introductions as well as a few sections of songs themselves have been spliced in from other performances on the rare occasion. However, this is very very minor. The vast majority of the original Felt Forum tapes are included here. The problem was since these shows were originally recorded, the tapes had been cut into many fragments for usage in various live releases through the years. From my understanding, Bruce Botnick basically had to assemble the tapes as if they were a jigsaw puzzle. A few very small tape fragments are unfortunately lost forever. With this taken into consideration, I think Mr. Botnick did a great job The other options were to either a release what they had with the missing pieces, or b fill in the missing gaps with lesser sound quality audience recordings. Mr. Botnick chose to keep the flow of the concerts going without a drop in sound quality. I m fine with his decision all things considered.
In conclusion, I m very happy with this release and highly recommend it to fans of the group I also encourage them to BUY it. This is the last release from the Absolutely Live concert recordings. Hopefully if this release is supported well and they make a little profit, it could encourage them to seek out rare recordings for future release.

The entire legendary live show, available now for the first time on LP

Includes the tracks Hello, I Love You, The Wasp Texas Radio And The Big Beat and Spanish Caravan

Double LP set on 180-gram vinyl lacquers cut at the Mastering Loft

The Doors supplied plenty of post-Independence Day fireworks on July 5, 1968, when the legendary quartet played the Hollywood Bowl, a concert that is considered to be the band s finest on film. For the first time, the audio has been remixed and mastered from original multi-tracks by the group s engineer Bruce Botnick.

This new restoration offers a stunning audio upgrade from earlier versions and will give fans the closest experience to being there live alongside Jim Morrison, John Densmore, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek, who opined, You can hear it as if you were at the Hollywood Bowl, on stage with us. Live At The Bowl 68 includes three previously unreleased tracks from the performance. Technical issues with the recording of Hello, I Love You, The WASP Texas Radio And The Big Beat , and Spanish Caravan prevented them from being released in the past. Now, through meticulous restoration of the audio, all three will be included, marking the first time the concert has been available in its entirety.

The Doors L.A. Woman: The Workshop Session 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION 2 LP SET

40th Anniversary 180 GRAM Vinyl Double LP Mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering Pressed at RTI
Rhino continues to give The Doors their due with this special 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of L.A. Woman. This two-disc collection contains rare and previously unreleased session outtakes and studio dialogue.
Recorded mostly live in their rehearsal space, the 10-song album was produced by the band with longtime engineer Bruce Botnick, who created a comfortable vibe in the studio. In an interview with Modern Drummer, Densmore recalled the L.A. Woman sessions. We just did a couple takes, on everything. There were some mistakes, and I would say, Ray, remember on Miles Davis Live At Carnegie Hall, on the intro of So What there s this horrible trumpet error? Miles said he didn t care, because of the feeling. That s what L.A. Woman is. Just passion in our rehearsal room, not in a fancy studio. It was the first punk album ...

50th Anniversary Collector s Numbered Limited Edition 10 Vinyl CD Box Set

Recently Discovered Live Recordings, the earliest known to exist, available for the First Time
Before The Doors took the music scene by storm in 1967, they were the house band at the London Fog, a Sunset Strip dive bar located just footsteps away from the world famous Whisky a Go Go, the future home of many of the band s most legendary performances. The Doors have opened a virtual time capsule with London Fog 1966, a Collector s Numbered Limited Edition box set that features unearthed audio recorded at the club in May 1966. Previously unreleased and not even known to exist until recently, this marks the earliest recordings of the band and finds the quartet mixing blues covers with early versions of Doors originals. London Fog 1966 is the first of many special activities and releases coming to celebrate The Doors 50th Anniversary in 2017.
London Fog 1966 is available as an individually numbered limited edition of 18,000 copies while supplies last. Presented in a lift-top package designed to look like a vintage storage box, the set features seven songs on both CD and a 10-inch record that s made to resemble a test pressing. Noted Doors engineer Bruce Botnick recently mastered the audio for this collection.
Along with the unreleased music, the set is packed with memorabilia and historic liner notes to provide a true time capsule of that fabled night at the London Fog, including a postcard, the set list handwritten by John Densmore, a program for the Royce Hall UCLA student film screening, plus a London Fog coaster. There are also liner notes included from Sunset Strip legend Ronnie Haran-Mellen, who was the talent booker at the Whisky a Go Go. Haran-Mellen saw The Doors live for the first time at the London Fog and then booked them as the permanent house band at the Whisky, leading to the band s signing to Elektra and meteoric rise to superstardom.
Also contributing liner notes is Nettie Pena, one of the lucky few to be in attendance at the London Fog for this fabled show. Pena was a pivotal force in this release coming together as she captured the audio on a 1/4 reel to reel recorder. Pena also photographed the band that evening and five black and white 8x10 reprints of these unpublished photos are included in the Collector s Edition, featuring a fresh-faced Morrison on a cramped stage with John Densmore, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek.
The show featured on London Fog 1966 took place the same year that The Doors recorded their eponymous debut. Released in January 1967, the album would become one of the most influential in rock history. Like many of the band s early concerts, the show captured on this deluxe set reflects the group s deep love for the blues with covers of standards like Muddy Waters Rock Me and I m Your Hoochie Coochie Man. The set also includes raw performances of Baby, Please Don t Go Big Joe Williams , Don t Fight It Wilson Pickett , and Lucille Little Richard .
During their residency at the London Fog, The Doors frequently worked out new songs on stage that would eventually appear on various studio albums. At this show, the band played two originals. The first, Strange Days, would become the title track for the band s second studio album, which also came out in 1967. This is one of the only known live recordings of this track. The other Doors original, You Make Me Real, wasn t officially released on a studio album until Morrison Hotel in 1970.
To hear Strange Days, that came out on their second album, in almost final shape so early on was truly amazing, says Jac Holzman, the President of Elektra Records who signed The Doors to their first recording contract.
London Fog 1966 is released in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of The Doors in 2017.
