Item Description

THE BEATLES - PLEASE, PLEASE ME Here is a rare opportunity to complete your collection with perhaps an affordable example of the most desirable of all UK Beatles LPs This is a genuine 1st STEREO pressing dating from initial April 1963 release on the gold black Parlophone stereo label: PCS 3042 Both labels are 1st variant-type with Dick James Mus.
publishing credits for tracks 1, 2, 3 7 on side 1 and 4 6 on side 2 A ZT purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 YEX 95-1 Rarest stamper codes: 1/A 1/R The only known stamper codes for this pressing are: 1G/1R, 1R/1G 1A/1R This 1A/1R copy is was actually pressed AFTER the Northern Songs labelled copies.
Only 2 or 3 copies have ever surfaced before now Vinyl weight: 161g Housed in a correct front laminated, tri-flipback Ernest J.
Day printed cover with the Angus McBean credit position in the extreme lower right corner of the front panel This copy comes complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.
CONDITION Disc Labels: VERY GOOD - As you can see both labels have a slightly washed-out appearance and there is wear around the centre holes.
However, the delicate gold print is intact and there is no writing or missing paper on either label.
Visual: GOOD Both sides of this disc show significant wear and it is clear it has been played many times and not with the greatest of care.
Viewed in strong daylight, there is some whitening to the grooves but the only feelable surface mark measures 3 cms and is on side 1.
Closer examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals numerous other small, light scratches - none of which I would class as major .
There is some faint patternation to the side 2 presumably from the inner-sleeve, but the disc is not warped and lies 100 flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: VERY GOOD - Despite the surface marks, the quality of the recording and pressing shine through.
My play-check detected no wear to the opening track and only some light background crackle on Misery Anna .
There are some soft pops at the end of Boys and into Ask Me Why due to the aforementioned mark, but no other significant audible distractions.
There is some light surface noise throughout side 2 which is most noticeable between tracks and is that sides only significant audible wear.
Cover: VERY GOOD - A respectable correct example of this early cover.
The front panel is clean with slight rubbing to the laminate and a few small indentation marks from storage.
There is some wear to the left corners mostly but none are split.
The front opening edge is clean un-feathered, however there is a 5mm tear to the rear.
The exposed rear panel bears general age/storagewear marking and there is a small section of missing flipback in the lower right corner.
Both seams are unstressed unsplit and the spine is clean readable Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD General age/storagewear with no major faults.
