Item Description

Welcome to 20th Century Collectables Quality vinyl for the discerning collector The Beatles Please Please Me Genuine 1963 1st issue UK mono pressing on the Black Gold Parlophone Label, catalogue number PMC 1202.
In this 50th anniversary year, 20th Century Collectables is proud to offer this fabulous example of a UK 1st pressing black gold Please Please Me in its original GOLD cover with the earliest Dick James label credits and early 1st mother stampers dating to in or around the very first day of production and ahead of the March 22nd 1963 release date The copy has beautiful black gold labels which still retain their original shop freshness and has a MINT- unworn audio.
Now becoming increasingly rare in this condition, this record has great investment potential unlike most battered and worn copies now being offered for auction.
Don t miss out Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N XEX 422-1N Stamper codes: 1/A 1/M 1st Mother from the earliest batch of copies pressed Please check out the pictures and read on for further details:- CONDITION Disc Labels: MINT -The all important black gold labels on this UK 1st pressing are truly superb and retain virtually all of their original shop freshness.
Both labels are free of any spindle trails.
The gold lettering is factory fresh and completely unworn.
The ZMT tax code is visible on side 2.
A beautiful set.
Audio: MINT- Stunning audio throughout and one of the finest sounding copies I have heard of this famous and now iconic pressing.
There is no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals and no loss of audio detail whatsoever.
The richness of the analogue sound shines through the harmonica on Love Me Do is as fresh as the day it was recorded and the intro to I Saw Her Standing There is explosive and distortion free.
There is no audible surface noise on any of the music.
There are three faints ticks in the gap between tracks one and two on side one but virtually all gaps are silent with little to no surface noise.
Needless to say the record does not jump or stick.
A true audiophile copy which will not disappoint.
Visual: EXCELLENT The record still retains a high gloss sheen, there are some superficial and light surface marks visible in daylight which disappear depending on the angle the record is held at but none of these marks are feelable or affect the audio in any way.
Under a strong halogen desklight nothing much more is revealed other than whispy sleeve removal marks.
It is clear that the record has been well cared for and has not been played that often in its 50 year history and considering that this is one of the earliest copies ever pressed is a testament to its original owner.
The record lies 100 flat on the turntable.
Cover EXCELLENT - The record comes in its original E J Day GOLD cover with the Angus McBean credit located in the extreme right hand corner.
One only has to look at most of the covers being offered at auction to realise that any gold cover at or above the grade of VG is a rarity.
Most are torn, have writing on them or have tape marks.
The front panel is without any thumbnail creasing and still retains much of its original laminate sheen.
The back panel is clean and free from any writing and shows only moderate signs of ageing.
The flipbacks are all intact.
The major reason why the cover does not achieve a higher grading is that the corners have some degree of wear or minor damage to them, that said, this is a highly respectable example and very tough to find in this condition.
Inner-sleeve MINT- Clean correct.
