THE THIRD PRESSING WAS YET ANOTHER MISTAKE BY THE PRINTERS/PUBLISHERS. THE FIRST TWO PRESSES WERE OF COURSE ON THE GOLD AND BLACK LABEL, AND THE VERY 1ST NEW PRESSING ON THE YELLOW AND BLACK LABEL WAS ALSO SHORT LIVED DUE TO MISTAKES. FIRSTLY IT HAD AN EXTRA 33 1/3RD NEXT TO THE MATRIX NUMBER AT 9 O CLOCK ON THE LABEL, THAT WAS ELIMINATED ALMOST AS SOON AS IT WAS SPOTTED AND THIS ISSUE WITHOUT THE SMALL 33 1/3RD WAS PRINTED. A SHORT TIME LATER IT WAS DECIDED THAT THE LABEL NEEDED EXTRA INFORMATION I.E RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED IN 1963 . THAT FINAL LABEL FROM 1963 BECAME THE COMMON LABEL WHICH 99 OF ALL 1963 BEATLES PLEASE PLEASE ME LP S HAVE. SO THE LABELS WITHOUT THIS EXTRA INFORMATION ARE IN SOME CAMPS CONSIDERED ACTUALLY RARER THAN THE GOLD AND BLACK LABELS.
THE GOLD AND BLACK SLEEVES COULD BE IDENTIFIED VERY QUICKLY. FIRSTLY THEY WERE PRINTED BY THE E.J DAY GROUP AND NOT GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE, AND SECONDLY THE NAME OF THE PHOTOGRAHPER ANGUS McBEAN WAS PRINTED IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER OF THE FRONT OF THE SLEEVE BUT THE TEXT STARTED DIRECTLY BELOW THE FINAL LETTER S IN THE WORD SONGS IN BLUE TEXT. ALL OTHER PLEASE PLEASE ME SLEEVES HAVE THE MCBEAN TEXT STARTING UNDER THE N AND G OF THE WORD SONGS
SO WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS A RARE 3RD PRESS LABEL WITHOUT THE RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED AND WITHOUT THE EXTRA 33 1/3
FINALLY ANOTHER INDICATOR THAT THIS IS A REALLY EARLY PRESSING IS FOUND ON SIDE TWO OF THE LABEL RIGHT ON TOP OF THE SPINDLE HOLE. THE LETTERS Z AND T ARE EMBOSSED ONTO THE LABEL. THIS IS THE TAX CODE THAT WAS PLACED ON PARLOPHONE ALBUMS BETWEEN APRIL 10TH 1962 AND NOVEMBER 25TH 1962, AND SHOULD ONLY BE FOUND ON THE GOLD AND BLACK LABELS.
PLEASE PLEASE ME WAS RELEASED IN MARCH 1963, AND WAS NATURALLY PRESSED UP WAY BEFORE THEN IN ORDER TO TEST THE PRESSINGS AND GET THE STOCK READY, THEREFORE IT STANDS TO REASON THAT THIS PRESSING WAS ALSO A VERY EARLY PRESS, AS ALL COMMON VERSIONS OF PLEASE PLEASE ME USUALLY HAVE THE MT TAX CODE
THE RECORDS
THE LABELS
THE YELLOW AND BLACK LABELS ARE IN SUPERB CONDITION. NO STAINS OR HANDLING MARKS. THE COLOUR STRETCHES FULLY INTO THE UNWORN SPINDLE HOLE. THE SILVER TYPEFACE AND LOGOS ARE ALL UNRUBBED AND PERFECTLY LEGIBLE. IT IS DIFFICULT TO ACCURATELY SAY HOW MANY SPIDER LINES THERE ARE AROUND THE SPINDLE HOLE, BECAUSE EVEN USING A MAGNIFYING GLASS I CAN ONLY SEE VERY FAINT COMPACT LINES. IT HAS CLEARLY HAD SOME PLAY BUT HOW MUCH I AM NOT SURE IN THIS CASE. CERTAINLY NOT ENOUGH TO DAMAGE OT WEAR THE GROOVES
THE VINYL
THIS VINYL GLEAMS LIKE NEW, AND HAS LOST NONE OF ITS ORIGINAL LUSTRE. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE HANDLING MARKS OR LINES, AND IN DAYLIGHT THIS HEAVYWEIGHT DISC LOOKS FLAWLESS AND EVEN WHEN OFFERED UP TO INTENSE ILLUMINATION ALL THAT IS VISIBLE ARE SOME EXTREMELY WISPY SLEEVE WITHDRAWAL HAIRLINES. NOTHING DEEP, NO MARKS OR SCRATCHES AND NO DULLING TO THE SURFACE
PLAYING THE RECORD
I BELIEVE THAT IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A FANTASTIC COLLECTIBLE VINYL, THAT YOU SHOULD BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. I HAVE THEREFORE INVESTED IN THE SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO DO JUST THAT.
I HAVE RECORDED THE ENTIRE ALBUM FROM START TO FINISH AS I NOW DO WITH ALL MY LISTINGS, AND I AM CONVINCED THAT BIDDERS WOULD LOVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO HEAR THE RECORD BEFORE LAYING ANY BID. THIS IS A SERVICE I AM DELIGHTED TO BE ABLE TO OFFER MY CUSTOMERS
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN TO THIS SUPERB RECORDING BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR BID, AS I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY TO PLACE THIS IN YOUR COLLECTION. I HAVE RECORDED THIS AS IT WAS INTENDED TO BE HEARD ...IN MONO
THIS VINYL PLAYS EVERY BIT AS SUPERBLY AS IT LOOKS. FROM THE SECOND THE STYLUS IS LOWERED ONTO THE RUN IN GROOVE THE CLARITY OF REPRODUCTION COMES THROUGH CRISPLY AND CLEARLY. THIS IS A FIRST PRESS SOUND IN EVERY WAY.
THE VINYL PLAYS WITHOUT ANY HEAVY BACKGROUND CRACKLE, OR LOUD CLICKS OR SMALL ONE FOR THAT MATTER
CERTAINLY NO EMBEDDED VINYL NOISE AND EVERY NOTE IS HEARD AS WAS INTENDED
SITTING VERY CLOSE TO THE SPEAKERS AS I DO WHEN TYPING THIS OUT I WAS ABLE TO DETECT JUST THE TINIEST SPECK OF STATIC LIKE BACKGROUND IN SOME OF THE LINKING GROOVES. THIS IS SO LIGHT THAT MOVING TO NORMAL LISTENING DISTANCE ELIMINATED IT
THERE ARE NO DUST POPS OR STATIC TICS EITHER
I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO GRADE THIS VINYL NEAR MINT FOR THE REPRODUCTION COULD EVEN BE HIGHER
DON T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT THOUGH, HAVE A GOOD LISTEN AND JUDGE IT AGAINST YOUR PERSONAL STANDARDS
THE SLEEVE
LAMINATED FRONT SURFACE, AND UN-LAMINATED REAR SURFACE FROM THE E.J DAY CO
I HAVE MENTIONED ABOVE EXACTLY THE FINE DETAIL AROUND THIS BEING THE EARLIEST SLEEVE FOR THIS ALBUM
THE FRONT SURFACE IS FLAT AND PERFECTLY CLEAN.THE LAMINATE GLEAMS LIKE A POLISHED MIRROR. I CAN T SAY I HAVE EVER SEEN THIS SLEEVE LOOKING SO GOOD, AS MANY HAVE UNSIGHTLY CREASES ALL OVER THEM.
THERE ARE NO HEAVY CREASES OR BENDS, AND THERE ARE JUST FIVE SMALL LAMINATE PRESSURE LINES NEAR THE SPINE. FOUR ALONG THE TOP EDGE, EIGHT ALONG THE AND BOTTOM EDGE. AND ZERO THUMB LINES ON THE OPENING EDGE
NO LAMINATE LIFT ANYWHERE, AND NO RING WEAR OR RECORD SHAPE
THE FOUR CORNERS HAVE A TINY SPECK OF RUB TO THE TIPS WITH THE BOTTOM RIGHT TIP SHOWING A LITTLE MORE THAN THE OTHERS AND THE TOP RIGHT NOTHING AT ALL REALLY
THE LAMINATE STILL GLEAMS LIKE NEW.
THE TOP AND BOTTOM EDGES ARE BOTH FREE FROM ANY SHELF WEAR, AND THE LAMINATE FULLY RUNS FROM CORNER TIP TO TIP WITHOUT ANY ROUGHNESS. THE RIGHT CORNER TIPS ARE LIGHTLY RUBBED AS IT THE BOTTOM LEFT TIP
THE SPINE IS PERFECTLY FLAT AND UN-SQUASHED. EVERY LETTER OF THE TYPEFACE IS PERFECTLY LEGIBLE, AND THE LAMINATE IS SMOOTH AND ONLY HAS A LITTLE RUBBING TO THE BOTTOM TIP
THE OPENING EDGE IS ABSOLUTELY RAZOR SHARP AND CLEARLY SHOWS WHY THIS ALBUM IS IN THE INCREDIBLE STATE THAT IT IS, BECAUSE IT JUST HASN T BEEN REMOVED FROM THE SLEEVE MUCH
THE REAR SURFACE IS IN SUPERB CONDITION.USUALLY FOUND IN VERY DIRTY CONDITION, THIS ONE IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN MOST. THE LAMINATED FLIPBACKS ARE ALL FIRMLY ADHERED TO THE SURFACE AND THEY HAVE REMAINED UNDAMAGED.
THE POROUS WHITE SURFACE IS STILL VERY WHITE WITH ONLY THE BAREST SHADOW OF NATURAL AGEING. MAINLY ON THE OPENING EDGE AND OTHER EDGES
THE ORIGINAL POLY LINED EMITEX INNER SLEEVE IS IN SPLIT FREE, CREASE FREE CONDITION, AND ONLY HAS LIGHT NATURAL AGEING
I AM REALLY PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO GRADE THIS SLEEVE NEAR MINT
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BID IF YOU CHOSE TO GO FOR IT
