GUARANTEED With Revolver, the Beatles made the Great Leap Forward, reaching a previously unheard-of level of sophistication and fearless experimentation.
Sgt.
Pepper s, in many ways, refines that breakthrough, as the Beatles consciously synthesized such disparate influences as psychedelia, art song, classical music, rock roll, and music hall, often in the course of one song.
Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian When I m Sixty-Four seems like a logical extension of Within You Without You and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of Lovely Rita.
There s no discounting the individual contributions of each member or their producer, George Martin, but the preponderance of whimsy and self-conscious art gives the impression that Paul McCartney is the leader of the Lonely Hearts Club Band.
He dominates the album in terms of compositions, setting the tone for the album with his unabashed melodicism and deviously clever arrangements.
In comparison, Lennon s contributions seem fewer, and a couple of them are a little slight but his major statements are stunning.
With a Little Help from My Friends is the ideal Ringo tune, a rolling, friendly pop song that hides genuine Lennon anguish, la Help Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds remains one of the touchstones of British psychedelia and he s the mastermind behind the bulk of A Day in the Life, a haunting number that skillfully blends Lennon s verse and chorus with McCartney s bridge.
It s possible to argue that there are better Beatles albums, yet no album is as historically important as this.
After Sgt.
Pepper s, there were no rules to follow -- rock and pop bands could try anything, for better or worse.
Ironically, few tried to achieve the sweeping, all-encompassing embrace of music as the Beatles did here.
EXCERPT FROM AN ONLINE REVIEW BY STEPHEN THOMAS ERLEWINE, ALL MUSIC GUIDE /ALLMUSIC.COM/ Here it is, in all its glory, the Emperor of all Rock albums, in all its ORIGINAL glory: the black rainbow label Capitol records pressing of Sgt.Pepper .
This vinyl MONO version is still much preferable EVEN to the newly remastered Apple/EMI compact disc AND analog mono vinyl.
This is the album that turned Rock n Roll upside down and split its history in two: Rock before Sgt.
Pepper - and Rock after Sgt.
Pepper.
According to legend, none other than John Lennon, declined to listen to anything but a mono version of this album.
Plus, bear in mind that George Martin specifically mixed this masterpiece for a mono version stereo was a mere afterthought Grab a piece of history before Christie s and Sotheby s do.
Finding a still sealed original MONO copy of this Rock MILESTONE? ? Forget it not even a HOPE This may be the last one you will ever see.

These are genuine historical artifacts.
Rock Roll did not produce many works deserving to be called history albums by Beatles are a noble exception to this rule.
II.
These pressings are coveted by EVERYONE and, despite the fact that Beatles sold almost a billion records, precious few original mono albums in good shape remain on the market.
III.
Mono pressings are, almost by definition, the very first pressings.
They were in print for only short period of time, ranging from only few weeks Magical Mystery Tour to three years Meet the Beatles .
IV.
First, mono pressings sound MUCH better and are much more vivid than the stereo versions.
V.
Mono versions contain different versions or mixes of many tracks in some cases mono versions contain the only proper versions of the songs, which are only available only in FAKE stereo on stereo albums.
VI.
The original Beatles mono albums are a terrific investment value, not likely to go the Lehman Brothers way.

b The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings.
Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic.
Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording c The album is believed to come with the original insert still intact d The record is believed to come in its original, custom, inner sleeve, which is UNIQUE to this album.
e The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings.
Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic.
Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording f Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its stereo counterpart.
We think that the mix is more natural, humane, organic and that the mixes are somewhat different than on the stereo version.
We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber mono pressings by a ratio of at least 10:1.
