Item Description
In this auction is a RARE ONE, for sure, from my own collection Here are the details: INTRODUCING THE BEATLES LP by The Beatles This is Vee Jay Records VJLP 1062.
It was issued January 10, 1964.
This is the VERY RARE Version 1 issue of this LP with vinyl that includes the cuts Love Me Do and P.S.
I Love You .
This is the SECOND COVER prepared for Introducing The Beatles WITH THE REAR COVER THAT IS ENTIRELY BLANK AND CONSISTING OF A SEMI-GLOSS/GLOSSY WHITE PAPER SLICK.
The second variation Blank Back cover has been an object of mystery and speculation.
Some Beatles collectors and historians believe that this cover was a production error or a prototype cover however, the existence of four different variations of the cover and the number of covers in existence makes the factory error and prototype cover theories unlikely.
Others have proposed that it was a promotional issue but this makes no sense because the blank back promotes nothing and doesn t even provide DJs with a necessary song track list.
At least the colorful Ad-Back first cover, though lacking song tracks listed, promoted other Vee Jay LPs.
SO, THE PREVAILING BELIEF IS THAT BLANK BACK COVERS WERE A LIMITED TRANSITIONAL RUN SUBSTITUTED AFTER ALL AD-BACK SLICKS HAD BEEN USED BUT PRIOR TO RECEIPT OF THE THIRD BACK COVER VARIATION THAT LISTED THE SONG TITLES KNOWN AS THE COLUMN-BACK COVER .
Thanks to the web site A History on the Ad Back and other early Versions of INTRODUCING THE BEATLES for this information.
BOTH COVER and VINYL are ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC The vinyl has AUDIO MATRIX pressed in the trail-off on both sides and the cover shows NO SIGNS AT ALL OF TAMPERING.
So you can bid with confidence that you are receiving the real deal and not a counterfeit.
The COVER is in VG CONDITION.
The front cover slick is nice and clean with very light wear.
There is some very light wear on the bottom seam and on the spine.
The top seam has some light flaking.
The corners are bald .
There is NO ring wear, NO seam splits, NO writing and NO tears.
The semi-glossy/glossy rear cover slick, the blank back , has light to moderate overall wear including aging/foxing with a very small stain near the center.
The VINYL has the CORRECT OVAL VEE JAY LOGO VERSION 1 DISC.
The VINYL is in WEAK VG MINUS CONDITION.
There are numerous light hairlines/scratches/scuffs on both sides.
None of them are feel-able , but there will most likely be some audio distraction during play.
The vinyl both sides still has gloss.
There is light wear on the labels.
While the vinyl is in lower graded condition, the value is really in the VERY RARE and UNCOMMON BLANK-BACK COVER.
And the ORIGINAL VEE JAY RECORDS INNER SLEEVE IS INCLUDED.
