Description
Led Zeppelin Untitled aka IV or Runes Label: Atlantic Cat.
No.: 2401012 Format: Vinyl, LP Album Variant: 1st UK pressing, Version 1 Released: 8th November 1971 Genre: Hard Rock, Blues Rock Track Listing A1Black Dog4:55 A2Rock And Roll3:40 A3The Battle Of Evermore5:38 A4Stairway To Heaven7:55 B1Misty Mountain Hop4:39 B2Four Sticks4:49 B3Going To California3:36 B4When The Levee Breaks7:08 This is an authentic 1st UK pressing with the plum label in red, white and plum purple, the inverted feather symbol on the B side.
As is correct for this pressing, there is no inclusion of Superhype Music Inc.
on the labels, but Peter Grant is listed as Executive Producer - his name was removed was removed from all later versions of the record at the insistence of Jimmy Page.
The matrix codes are Side A 2401012 XX A//3 1 2 6 PECKO DUCK and Side B 2401012 b//3 11 2 PORKY - again, this is correct for the 1st pressing. It s in the original unlaminated gatefold sleeve, printed and made in England with some of the most famous artwork in the history of rock music, and also has the original liner inner sleeve featuring the lyrics to Stairway To Heaven on one side and the track titles, credits and other info on the back. There are a couple of very light hairline scratches on Side 1, but these are far too minor to create any problems - there s a barely discernible click for the first couple of minutes but this is almost lost in the music.
Were it not for those, the record would easily be near mint condition - there are no other issues to the remainder of Side 1 and none to Side 2, and the labels are pristine.
We re selling the record on behalf of a veteran collector who started in the early 1960s and continued until around 2005 - he tended to buy several records brand new each week, played them one or twice and then filed them away, and this one certainly appears to have been played only a handful of times.
For that reason, grade is the upper end of VG , which is considerably better than most other surviving examples. The sleeve, sadly, is not in quite such good shape, though it s also better than most - the lower end of VG with very slight discolouration at margins shelf scuffs to corners, a small split at bottom and no writing or stickers.
The printed liner inner sleeve is present, with a small split in the bottom seam fixed with tape minor rip at the top.
Its original owner liked to cut out reviews of the records he bought from the press and stick them to the liners, and did so with this one which has caused the small marks seen on it in the 11th photo note that he was careful not to affect text or images .
The review, seen in the last photo, is still in the sleeve.
