Item Description
LOCOMOTIVE - WE ARE EVERYTHING YOU SEEA neat, impressive copy of this rare and highly sought after 1970 UK very first pressing prog rock gem, the brainchild of Norman Haines, on the PARLOPHONE label, stereo PCS7093The dead wax matrix numbers are :Side 1 YEX 757 - 1U with stamper R at 2 o clockSide 2 YEX 758 - 1U with stampers 1 and G at 8 o clock and 2 o clock respectivelyThe appearance of the flat vinyl is truly excellent plus EX .
Gleaming vinyl with jet black lacquering and in normal daylight no detectable marks at all apart from when tilted at the right angle a very light scratch so light that it is not feelable - see photo on track 1, side 2 which does result in some intermittent mild clicking for about half the duration of that track.
With close scrutiny and under a bright light it is just possible you really do have to look hard to make out a couple of small light surface hairlines on each side but there is nothing here that is feelable or heavy in nature.
Clearly this record has been underplayed and has a beautiful appearance, but because of the aforementioned very light scratch on side 2 I grade the overall condition of the vinyl as very good plus VG .
So very rare to come across this record, let alone in such overall impressive condition vinyl. The labels are excellent .
Beautiful matt textured labels with barely any aberrations/blemishes at all.
The Parlophone and single box EMI logos, the matt textured black background, and all silver and white text are perfectly intact on each label.
Under a bright light it is just possible to identify a couple of very faint spindle trails on each label but apart from this each label is pristine. The condition of the front laminated Garrod Lofthouse outer sleeve is very good plus VG .
Such an iconic sleeve, and quite fragile also.
Certainly all of the front side art work and colour remains rich, clear and vibrant and on the reverse side there is no unwanted writing or doodles and all text is perfectly intact.
There is no scuffing on either of the top or bottom edges and the same applies to the condition of the spine which is devoid of both scuffing and any nasty creasing with all text nicely intact see photo .
There is a single 3mm nick on the top edge along with x2 laminate surface creases on the front side adjacent and perpendicular to the spine.
There is a further 7mm diagonal laminate crease located at the bottom left corner which does impinge slightly upon the spine and in that same corner the corner itself is slight scrunched up with a little rubbing.
There is also some sporadic, light laminate creasing towards the front top edge and a further 4cm light laminate crease towards the bottom edge underneath the Parlophone logo.
There are also some age discolouration spots towards the bottom right corner on the bottom edge and also on the top edge where there is a further very small nick above the letter L in LOCOMOTIVE .
The opening edges remain firm with no fraying though there is a light 5cm abrasion right on the edge of the front side opening edge towards the bottom and the reverse side is in overall excellent condition with some intermittent laminate creasing on the bottom flip back.
I have tried to give as much detail as possible...each of these blemishes are minor and I believe that VG is an accurate grading for the condition of the outer sleeve, but do look at the photos. Finally, the quality of the audio is excellent.
In fact, side 1 is stunning with no clicks or interference/background crackle at all.
The only blemish on side 2 is the aforementioned light clicking on the first track due to a very light non-feelable scratch which last for about a third of that track - I counted a total of x44 but many of these clicks are so light that you have to strain in order to detect them, and none of these clicks are nasty or especially intrusive nor do they significantly diminish the enjoyable listening experience of the track itself.
Other than this relatively minor track blemish the overall quality of the audio is truly excellent plus, but because of it I grade the audio quality as excellent plus for side 1 and very good plus for side 2.
Great tone and clarity, even on the higher frequencies and at higher volume.
Such an underrated and under the radar LP when first released way back almost 50 years ago.The tracks are :Side 1 :1.

Note that I always post the record in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. In summary an impressive copy of this extremely rare and highly sought after 1970 UK very 1st pressing prog rock gem - seldom seen, so difficult to find and worthy of gracing any vinyl collection.

If this record interests you then take a look at my other 60 s 70 s classic vinyl listings.A bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 48 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960 s and 70 s origin.
Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but during the past 30 years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boot sales, auctions, and even through putting up a vinyl wanted notice in my wife s shop I am now retired and take great delight in being able to spend more time scouring the country and attending boot sales and auctions in the hope of unearthing more vinyl gems...I am 63 years of age now and am still discovering bands and music of the 60 s and 70 s that I have never come across before.
