Featured on the white strip only early press Complete With Stunning 1st Issue Unlaminated Gatefold Cover And Original Flipback Lyric Record Sleeve Rare In This Condition Over 38 years ago I saw Led Zeppelin Live at the Ulster Hall,in Belfast, Ireland, on March 6th, 1971, This
was their 1st public performance of Stairway To Heaven,Black Dog and
many more from their fourth coming album eight months later .
The
offical release of Stairway To Heaven on record, was eight months later
in November 1971.
A magical version with a powerful final section
driving the crowd mad I remember vividly as a young teenager, The venue
only held aprox 300-400 people the place was like a large church hall
and my ticket, was that I was to be seated about half way back from the
stage, although I seem to remember that nobody ever sat on a seat all
the way through this concert I had never heard a rock band like this
before, the raw energy and power projected was truly electrifying.
I
thought that the ceiling was going to cave in .Robert Plant sang there s a sign on the door .
He left out this line completely .From this first appearance in Belfast on this song was performed in every LZ gig thereafter .Manager
Peter Grant refused to issue the track as a single.
So the record
buyers like myself began to invest in the fourth album as if it were a
single There are more than three million radio plays documented
- back to back that would run for more than 50 years solid .
Another from my personal collection, Being an avid
collector of Led Zeppelin UK pressings I have accumilated many many
copies of this album and many variations on both labels and audio
mixes This album has been carefully stored in a case, with the sleeve
and cover seperated from the vinyl for over 40 years.
I have many many copies of all of
the Zeppelin UK albums Please note This album is totally original and in top all round condition, importantly it is in totally complete condition.
The vinyl is in awesome condition and has
obviously barely ever been played in my opinion, Awesome top audio on all frequencies Remember this is an
original 45 years old, very very rare to find like this The original 1st press
Matt UK gate fold cover has no nasty creases worth to mention and is graded at excellent plus in my opinion.
This is complete with the 1st issue Original
1st issued flipback lyric records sleeve.
Full description is listed below Hear the complete album in the player below Actual recdording from the vinyl Played at very loud volume on my system, this nearly
shook the house down Stunning top audio through out Very near mint throughout Very
important note For all those audiophiles out there It is so common on
these early 70s pressings to experiance the odd light interfearance in the form of static crackle/pop that may possibly be heard during quiet tracks on
these vinyls, that are although tollerable in most cases it is still
evedent.
Note, there is isolated light static ticks/pop noted and heard worth to mention but this copy is absolutely awesome throughout.
Having heard many
many variations of this pressing and some sound extremely bland and
incipede this is awesome rich and very very vibrant with a real basey
and raunchy feel that can only be heard on the earliest UK pressings in
my opinion I would class myself as highly critical, Please look at my
completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you
will see that I normally get it right Led Zeppelin IV The untitled fourth album of English rock band Led
Zeppelin was released on November 8, 1971.
It has no official title
mentioned on the cover and is commonly referred to as Led Zeppelin IV,
in the style of the band s previous three albums.
Atlantic Records
catalogues have used the names Four Symbols and The Fourth Album, and it
is also variously referred to as Untitled, Runes, Sticks, Man with
Sticks, Four and ZoSo after the appearance of the first character or
symbol printed on the LP label .
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page
frequently refers to the album in interviews as Led Zeppelin IV, while
singer Robert Plant thinks of it as the fourth album, that s it.
It is
one of the best-selling albums in history, with over 23 million units
sold in the United States alone estimates for worldwide figures usually
top 37 million units After the lukewarm, if not confused and sometimes
dismissive, critical reaction Led Zeppelin III had received in the
autumn of 1970, Jimmy Page decided that the next Led Zeppelin album
would not have a title, but would instead feature four hand-drawn
symbols on the inner sleeve and record label, each one chosen by the
band member it represents.
We decided that on the fourth album, we
would deliberately play down the group name, and there wouldn t be any
information whatsoever on the outer jacket, Page explained.
Names,
titles and things like that do not mean a thing Owing to the lack of an official title, Atlantic
Records initially distributed graphics of the symbols in many sizes to
the press for inclusion in charts and articles.
The album was one of the
first to be produced without conventional identification, and this
communicated an anti-commercial stance that was controversial at the
time especially among certain executives at Atlantic .
Led Zeppelin IV remains a perennial favorite on
classic rock radio and features Stairway to Heaven , one of the most
famous and popular rock songs ever recorded The MatrixSIDE 1.
2421012 A 3 PEKO DUCK Hand Etched Master Pressers Signature Crossed out/Corrected Matrix SIDE 2.
2431012 B 4 PORKY Hand Etched Master Pressers Signature The vinylThis is the heavier and thicker original
type of vinyl and therefore much more robust later press were much more
flimsier the vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable, and is free
of any warping It is noted that I have double checked this , there are no warps On initial inspection the vinyl looks superbe and I find it hard to even see a blemish on the playing surface only in strong light could possibly any, or
very few light whispy surface sleeve removal marks/scuffs possibly be
seen on the playing surface,, Importantly, nothing that caused any loud constant clicks or pops when played my
systems The Audio QualityI have play tested the vinyl at very loud volume on a top system prior to this listing and also played to record so that you can hear for your self in the player above The audio is superbe crystal
clear and vibrant with no signs of any grooveware or that this has
been overplayed at all in my opinion So rare for a led zep vinyl original that is 40
years old absolutely top audio Very isolated static type ticks/light pop were noted in isolated places to mention but with the vibrancy heard that are only found like this on these earliest pressings these are soon forgotton in my opinion.
The vibrancy and separation is awesome throughout I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to Near Mint in my opinion Hear the complete album in the player above Please Note I always add this disclaimer Please allow for isolated static type/ticks/light click heard in quieter place but not consistant throughout the audio Please remember that this is an original 45 year old record that would have originally been played on a 45 byear old sytem.
Points to note this album has been stored in a case
laying dormant for at least 35-40 years from my personal experience this
vinyl would benefit from a constant clean before each play ,, as biuld
up of dirt and dust in the grooves over a period of laying dormant
causes static crackle constant cleaning drasticly reduces this and
greatly improves the audio quality all tracks play awesome with no loud clicks pops or any major interfearance.
Absolutely stunning top/vibrant audio on all frequencies The labelsThese are the original atlantic
plum orange labels minimal spidering can be seen only angled to the light, this has obviously been played but certainly not been overplayed in my opinion no ware that I can see
around the spindle hole this is still perfectly round made in great britain
is featured UK pressing please note under license is featured on
the white strip only earliest labels later issues feature this obove
the white strip The coverThis is the original heavy duty first uk
pressing gatefold cover unlaminated mat finish importantly there
is no splits or tares on this cover.
Please Note this is unlaminated
inside and out very very hard to keep in good condition like this one Amazingly there
is NO real rubbing ware to mention.
Very rare like this This is strong and straight.
Amazingly the spine is nice and has not suffered from the usual wear.
There are no real nasty creases on the front any creases there are are very minor thumb type and you have to look to notice in my opinion The cover is a beauty, strong and straight, 45 years old like this Graded at least Excellent Plus in my opinion The record sleeveThis is the original flip back
sleeve only first press later press do not have flipback another
impossible thing to find no splits or tares at the edges which are becoming fragile with age Light creases only see photos this is now stored separately from the vinyl This is the
original 40 years old HOW I SEND MY RECORDS THIS ALBUM WILL BE
