♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫ An American-only release at
the time, consisting of a few tracks from the forthcoming UK "Rolling
Stones No. 2" album, the UK 5X5 EP, and a few singles. Given the
scattershot nature of the album, gathered from so many sources, it's a
surprisingly cohesive collection. Mainly, it's a continuation of the first
album; a collection of blues covers with some originals thrown in. The material
here is slightly stronger than the first album; containing "Time is On My
Side" which started their rise to prominence in the US (although the
version on the original LP has the organ intro instead of the more familiar
guitar intro). It also contains the highly energetic "It's All Over
Now", with the enigmatic "Playing her high-class game" line that
sounds like something else I probably can't repeat here. Two of the originals,
"Empty Heart" and "2120 South Michigan Avenue", work more
as grooves rather than songs, but they seem to foreshadow a sort of proto-funk
by a few years (EXCERPT FROM AN ONLINE REVIEW BY RUSSELL NEWTON, ALL MUSIC
GUIDE/ALLMUSIC.COM/) When , according to the
legend, Rolling Stones unloaded their guitars and amps in 1964 at the Chess’
recording studios in Chicago, to record the album's worth of songs, it was none
other than Howlin’ Wolf who helped them unload their amps'n'stuff. The Rolling Stones returned the favor - and
kept returning it for many years thereafter - by including many Chicago
bluesmen in their TV appearances, by making cameos on their albums and by -
like they did here - recording many classic chess blues covers. This is the
Rolling Stones' second US LP – A GENUINE PIECE
OF ROCK`N`ROLL HISTORY. For additional

♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫ ·CONDITION: ·THE RECORD (IMPORTANT NOTE:
unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!;
wegrade records under the strong,
diffuse room light or discrete sunlight) (a)WE GRADE THE VINYLASNEAR MINT.
Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -are (barely) visible, but are probably
inaudible,and do not affect visual
integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and
the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new. (b)The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which
was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on
such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not
expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording! (c)The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about
1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with
very early or first pressings). (d)Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far morepreferable to its FAKE ("electronically
rechannelled") stereo counterpart. We estimate that FAKE stereo copies of
this album outnumber monos by a ratio of at least 10:1. (e)The record comes in a poly-lined London inner sleeve, which has -
apparently with success - shielded the vinyl from the harmful impact of
elements over many years!
