Richard Clapton s Hearts on the Nightline CD
1992 Infinity/Festival D 19596
This is Clapton s follow-up to Goodbye Tiger and tends to be one of his overlooked 70 s albums. Unlike Tiger , Girls on the Avenue or the later The Great Escape it didn t have a charting single, and I suspect it was even more overlooked when his first six albums were released on CD in 1992. Along with Prussian Blue and Mainstreet Jive I d rate this as the hardest to find of his 1973-1980 albums on CD. When I sold my mint condition copies of those CD s a couple of years ago, they went for north of 1,000. Given this is in lesser condition, this price seems about right to me.
Condition: the disc has quite a few small marks and light scratches, most of which my macro lens didn t even pick up in the photo, but which are obvious when I put strong direct light on it. There are a couple of longer but still fairly light scratches. I tried to capture the most visible one of these in the photo. I suppose I could only describe the condition as acceptable , though I encourage you to be pessimistic about the quality rather than expecting too much and being disappointed. My first reaction on viewing this was, that s not too bad . Now that I m putting a price on it I m obsessing over every little scratch and mark. Assume there are going to be numerous visible light marks or scratches. Most importantly the disc plays fine on my rather fussy player, which has been known to spit out brand new CD s in disgust. This didn t really surprise me. There are quite a few marks, but none of them looked as if they were bad enough to cause playback problems.
