Item Description
The Rolling Stones Let It Bleed LP, original 1969 release/pressing of the album.
This is a super rare, one of a kind release of the album.
The Rolling Stones never released any albums on colored vinyl in the United States, and only one other colored vinyl LP of this album has ever been found.
If you check the internet, you can find it and see that it sold at auction for thousands of dollars.
That one had a variety of colors on it, and this one is different, with only two red areas on each side of the LP, with the remainder appearing black but if you hold it up to a light, the black areas are actually dark red.
That album had the standard London Let It Bleed cover, and this one has a two piece die cut cover and it is the only LP cover of this kind, for this album, known to exist.
The theory on the other colored vinyl is that it was a presentation piece to an executive at London Records.
I have no provenance on the LP, so I don t know who, or why it was made this way.
It could have been a presentation piece to a London executive, or possibly it was a prototype, and it was then decided not to mass produce it for the general public.
It was definitely not made by a worker at the Shelley pressing plant as a personal one off, because they would only have access to color the vinyl, and would not have access to a specially made cover, since the covers were manufactured at a separate plant.
The record is in VG condition, with surface scratches throughout.
The previous owner obviously didn t know what kind of treasure he had, and played the record, and did not take good care of it, when he played it.
It does have pops and crackles when played, but no skips.
There is a defect on the record label-the labels are transposed, with the A side label on the B side of the record, and the B side label on the A side of the record.
I have checked the notations in the dead wax, and they all match up to be an authentic London Records original 1969 release of the album, from the Shelley pressing plant in Huntington N.Y..
There is a small printing defect on the A side of the label-shown in the 8th photo.
The word unauthorized is not fully printed on the bottom edge of the label on the A side, and the silver bar with Stereophonic on it, does not fully meet the edge of the label on the left side, but if you look at the photos on the internet of the one other colored vinyl Let It Bleed LP that is known to exist, you can see these same printed defects on that label.
The label has fading-this has occurred in the past year.
I had this stored, and there was a plastic sleeve that was on the record, and the plastic sleeve has some sort of chemical reaction with the printing on the label, causing it to fade-see the difference between the first photo of the label and the last two.
Side two is barely readable with the fading that has occurred. The LP cover is a two piece cover, with a die cut circle on the main piece, and a slide-in flat of the entire cover, that slides into the main LP cover.
I m guessing this was done so you could slide out the cover, leaving the record inside the main piece, and look at the colored vinyl without taking it out of the main cover.
Photos 1, 2, 4, and 5 show the variations on this.
The LP cover is in EX condition, with very little wear.
There is one small crease on the center left side, and a split of the top cover paper, at the center of the left side, where it meets the spine.
The flat slide in full cover illustration has no wear at all.
Photo 6 shows the back cover of the LP, and it s the standard back cover.
The slide in flat is just the front cover and has a plain brown back to it.
The LP cover with the die cut circle front and the flat are definitely factory made by London Records.
The top right corner of the cover has the London name and Stereo NPS-4 and the bottom of the back cover has the London name and address, Liner: NPS-4 at the bottom left corner, and Printed in U.S.A.
at the bottom right corner. As I stated before, this is a super rare Rolling Stones LP, the only one known to exist with this colored vinyl design, and the only 2 part die cut cover known to exist, for this album, and it s not only the Rolling Stones, but an original 1969 release, not a later pressing, of what many consider to be one of the greatest rock albums of all time.I m sorry but due to previous problems with international shipping, I no longer ship internationally, and I am only shipping this item within the U.S..
