Item Description

KISS THE ORIGINALS 1974-1979 JAPAN 11LP BOX COLORED VINYL CONTENTS MINT Please note that the cost to ship this box is 50, not 4.
Please do not send payment until you recieve an invoice from me indicating that the cost to ship this box is 50 AUCTION DESCRIPTIONUp for auction is a Japan pressed boxed set of KISS titled: THE ORIGINALS 1974-1979 MERCURY-PHJR-20002/12 This box was released in Japan on July 15, 1998 and there were only 2500 copies of this set produced and either 1500 or 2000 copies of the red box version of this set .
I purchased this set from a collector in Vancouver British Columbia who had purchased this set at Tower Records for 328.99.
The price tag for the set is on the shrink wrap on the back of the box.
He had never opened the box and I opened it a few weeks ago for the first time to check the contents of the set.
There are 9 KISS records 11lps in this box all reproduced on colored vinyl.
The records are: 1 KISS 2 HOTTER THAN HELL 3 DRESSED TO KISS 4 ALIVE 1 5 DESTROYER 6 ROCK AND ROLL OVER 7 LOVE GUN 8 ALIVE 2 and 9 DYNASTY.
There is also a 34 page 12x12 booklet, sheet of glossy color stickers, and 6 picture information cards inside the box.
And on the plastic case there is a red sticker with information in Japanese on it.
The bottom edge of the sticker is slightly curled upwards and this is common on this boxed set.
ITEM CONDITIONContents MINT Box: Slight Damage I did not pull any of the vinyl out from the covers and the album covers are all mint, along with the booklet, stickers, and cards.
The box itself has some minor damage.
For example, the edges of the box on both the front and the backside protrude outwards on the right hand side of the box.
Unfortunately, the two corners protruding on the backside have been damaged.
There are also two notches/areas of damage on the box along the bottom of the backside and one notch/area of damage on the bottom of the front side.
In addition, there is a tear in the plastic baggie that the set comes in.
If it was not for these problems, the set would be dead mint.
GRADINGI have been collecting vinyl for 25 years and I have always used the Goldmine Grading System to grade my records.
In particular, I would like to note that I don t believe that grading standards should be relaxed for older records.
Rather, record grading standards should be the same for records pressed in the 1950s and for a newly released record.
It annoys me when I read some sellers describing a record as mint for its age .
As far as I am concerned, what we classify as mint or near mint or any other grade for that matter does not change based on the age of the record.
Standards should not deteriorate In addition, I assume that the contents of sealed records are mint since they are factory fresh, never having been tampered with.
However, in reality, some records may not be mint on the first pull.
Also, if a record is sealed and the cover appears absolutely perfect, I will still grade the cover near mint to mint.
Finally, even though a long play or box set is sealed, I feel that the exterior of the package still needs to be graded very carefully.
Thus, I look for any defects on the exterior of still sealed items such as seam splits, creases that are visible through the shrinkwrap, discoloration on the cover, and damaged corners.
Any defects to the exterior packaging of still sealed records will be noted in my ads, including cut-out slices and punch holes.
PACKAGINGAll records are packaged to the best of my ability to prevent them from being damaged in transit.
In particular, I take great care to ensure that the corners of record covers do not get dinged in transit.
When I buy records on E-bay I always ask that the E-bay seller packs the record so there is no chance that the corners of the cover can get damaged in transit.
I feel that if I buy near mint to mint cover, then I should get a near mint to mint cover.
And if I sell a record that has the cover graded near mint to mint, then that is what you should get as a buyer.
