Item Description

This LP has seen better days the cover is rather heavily worn with some seam splitting, and the vinyl has a good bit of surface noise and pops and clicks, no skips thankfully , but it s an incredibly rare bit of vinyl - omitted from every Red Kirk discography I ve seen, the closest I can find to any reference to its existence is an allusion to a 45 on True Gospel, the tracks of which I would assume were culled from this full length. With the words Promotion Copy handwritten on the back, it makes me wonder how miniscule the print run must have been. In any case, it s an extraordinarily rare LP from an artist who started out making country singles on Mercury in 1949, went through a number of labels and singles over several decades, and even charted a couple of times. In fact, as far as I can tell, this may have been the only full LP he ever made, and one that as far as archivists are concerned, might be just now finding the light of day. An extraordinary find, full of smooth, on point gospel standards, more along the lines of traditional country singers than the honky tonk stuff and yodeling he did early on.
