This single is almost mythical amongst Hendrix collectors, and this one is even rarer as a promotional copy and it is more than 55 years old
Regarded as being the first appearance of Hendrix on vinyl and also the first known Hendrix recording session
Hendrix himself never mentioned the Rosa Lee Brooks single, but both Arthur Lee of Love and Rosa Lee Brooks have stated that he played guitar on the session. Arthur Lee says that he met Jimi Hendrix when Billy Revis recommended him as someone who could play in the style of Curtis Mayfield. Lee had seen Jimi as a session man backing up the Isley Brothers. My Diary is the first Arthur Lee composition that came near to being a hit. It was written for the R B singer Rosa Lee Brooks, who performed and recorded it.
