For sale here is a super copy of Pink Floyds iconic Dark side of the moon album.
Comes with all the attributes of an original first UK pressing.
Blue tinted gatefold cover.
Solid blue triangle on the labels.
Matrices are A2 and B2.
Black poly lined inner sleeve.
Both posters.
Both postcard/stickers.
Mother/stamper 2 / PO 1 / PH
Suffice to say that these appear quite regularly on eBay, and are not quite as rare as some people like to claim
What is very unusual to find, is a copy with the vinyl in exceptional condition like this copy. The only real signs of it being played
are some spindle trails on the labels. No marks worthy of note.
The mother/stamper combination to both sides is extremely early. Bear in mind often 1st UK presses have mother stampers up to 7 This copy has the mother 2 and stamper PO on side one, and mother 1 and stamper PH on side two.
I will give a detailed description of each part, including a play grading.
The cover:
Original and genuine blue tint to the cover. Very different to the black covers of later issues. Left side is sealed, and right hand side is open. Light colour loss due to leaning on other albums on a shelf. Spine colour almost perfect. Nothing serious here, a very solid cover. Inner gatefold is about as clean as you could find. No issues. Rear cover has slight traces of ring-wear starting, but as the vinyl is now stored outside of the cover, will not get any more noticeable.
Has a lovely piece of history attached. Inside the vinyl storage compartment is a sticker from the shop where it was bought in 1973, Boots the chemist of Sidney Street Cambridge. Brilliant
Conservative grading and I do mean conservative is a healthy VG .
I would expect the winner to be pretty pleased with this cover and its grading.
Inner sleeve:
Really nice example of the black poly lined inner. No splits, tears or damage of any kind. Just a light wrinkle that is minimal considering its age. Correct grey printed cat numbers and made in Great Britain present of course.
I grade the inner sleeve as a strong Ex .
Posters:
Both posters are present. Both are in super condition with just the fold marks present. No pin holes. No blue tack. No splits, rips, tears or issues.
I grade both posters as Ex.
Postcard/stickers:
Both postcards are present. Both unused. No pin holes, sticky tape, blue tack. The only issues to both are a light crease where they have inside the gatefold hinge . Both cards have Fasprint permanent on the reverse with 45 degree brown lines indicating where to peel of the backing. A great pair of cards.
I grade these at Ex lighter one and Ex darker one .
The labels:
The iconic solid blue prism labels are in good shape. There are spindle trails to both sides but no rips or stains. To be safe because of the spindle marks.....
I grade the labels as Ex-.
The vinyl visual :
Really the vinyl is the cream of this copy. I can see no marks of note aside from wispy sleeve removal hairlines.. the vinyl has a depth of shine and a gorgeous black lustre. I have been lucky enough to own several of the first pressings over many years of collecting, but never have I seen one as clean as this. I seriously can find no faults to mention whatsoever.
As this is a visual appraisal, I grade as a solid Ex.
The vinyl playgrade :
The sound quality on this copy is truly outstanding. Wide open stage, punchy dynamic detailed sound. The fact it has been pressed from the first and second mothers can only help. No clicks, pops, skips or sticks. The feintest bit of background at start of each side and run offs. A brilliant audio that I cannot really fault. Hard to imagine a better sounding copy.
I can very conservatively grade as Ex and believe many may grade higher. It s a belter of a copy.
As a complete and original first UK pressing with the A2 and B2 matrix numbers, correct blue tinged cover, both posters and stickers, I really have to grade overall as excellent. Somebody is going to be very happy
I will post overseas, although I have had issues in the past from both Russia and Italy. I have listed the price for UK postage only. If an overseas ebayer wants this, please bear in mind that I use Ebays Global Shipping Programme, which takes care of all postage, taxes and duties plus insurance. I DO NOT make anything on the postage. I charge the exact cost often less that I pay. I DO NOT charge for packing materials and I try to use recycled packing anyway.
I also dress all my albums in a brand new heavyweight plastic cover and a brand new anti-static inner sleeve.
All vinyl is packed outside of the cover and 2 stiffeners are used in transit.
I have sold many valuable vinyls over the years and am often credited with Fort Knox style packing.
Please bid with peace of mind that what you see is what you get.
If you have any questions, require extra photos you can only upload 12 on here , please just ask.
Album will be posted same day I receive the funds if early enough, or at worst the next day.
