Original 1st pressing of The Beatles tenth and only 2LP studio album released on November 22, 1968. This copy was pressed at the Capitol Records pressing plant in Scranton, PA. Very early 1st print cover that was among the first batch covers containing the numbers beginning with A1380001 to about A2010000 with the Scranton leading A immediately preceding the number. Laminated glossy gatefold cover contains the embossed The Beatles banner and A1531431 number in the lower right-hand corner. The cover still remains in the very rare to this issue United States Record Corp. full size gatefold type distributor baggy. The top left corner of the front cover contains a black 3 x 3 hype sticker underneath the baggy. This sticker is perhaps the rarest among the ones affixed to the covers of this album. It s also the only song title sticker, which contains four misspelled song titles and changed track title order that doesn t correspond to the one indicated on the labels. Additionally, this sticker is the only place, including the stickers and labels, that has the corrected title of Rocky Racoon , which remained uncorrected on the labels until 1995. Besides this, the sticker is the only one excluding the Day-Glo orange / red Capitol Records banner sticker , which mentions that the cover contains memorabilia reading includes lyrics to all the tunes plus four Beatle pictures . The information about this sticker we could find only in Bruce Spizer s book The Beatles on Apple Records Ch. The Beatles, Apple SWBO 101 , p. 121 . The set of promotional extra materials coming with this copy includes a large double-sided 23 x 34 color poster featuring a rights statement on the lyrics side with the second line of the statement reading Apple Records, Four 8 x 10 portrait photos, one of each Beatle, containing the Printed in USA logo in the lower left-hand corner, and an 8 x 10 yellow protector sheet. These blank sheets of paper of different colors were used to separate the sets of photos at the factory. 1st misprint Apple Records labels with the Capitol Records logo and all of the 7 spelling errors on sides 1,2, 4 which were corrected on the later copies of the album. Thick glossy vinyl contains the 1st matrix numbers in the runout groove:

The album comes with the original Apple Records plain white inner sleeves.
The gorgeous cover is in Near Mint condition. The front panel has a staple in the upper left-hand corner. All of the album s memorabilia, including the rare yellow separator sheet, are in Near Mint condition, just like the original Apple inner sleeves which don t have any splits. I grade the vinyl as Near Mint for Side 1 / 2 and Near Mint Minus for Side 3 / 4. The vinyl retains is amazing factory gloss and practically has no hairlines or marks, just a couple of super light barely noticeable scuffs from the inner sleeve on Side 3 and 4. The labels are in super clean Near Mint Minus condition and are completely scuff- and wear-free. The vinyl sounds amazing having the punchy, vivid and clear Stereo sound. The very light occasional static heard at a loud volume during the quiet passages will most likely will go away if the records are professionally cleaned using a VPI machine.
