Enrico Mainardi, cello ...
J.S. Bach: Complete Suites for Cello Solo No.1-6
rare German first press vinyl 3x 12inch 10inch LP set released 1954-56 on silver ARCHIV PRODUKTION label by Deutsche Grammophon with catalognumbers are APM 14029, APM 14044, APM 14061, and AP 13034.
Beautiful stitched triple foldout covers are in vg to exc condition, and all come complete with two inserts each: the green card with all recording details and the small Deutsche Grammophon insert. Note there are small archive stickers on the top left which could easily be removed, but I prefer to leave these on for authenticity purpose.
Given this is not a perfect nearmint or mint LP set, I playgraded each vinyl with my vintage EMT mono pickup system on highend equipment as follows ...
14029 APM Suite No.1 No.2 ... dated 11.54:
- Side 1: exc/nm ... two light hairlines visible under strong light are hardly noticed during play, no repetitive tics
- Side 2: nm
14044 APM Suite No.3 No.4 ... dated 4.55:
- Side 1: vg ... couple hairlines visible yet only light tics now and then, but not harsh repetitive clicks
- Side 2: vg ... couple hairlines visible, no harsh repetitive clicks, yet a bit of background noise
139029 AP Suite No.5 10inch ... dated 9.55:
- Side 1: vg ... two hairlines visible but hardly noticed during play,
- Side 2: vg ... two hairlines visible, little background noise, no harsh repetitive clicks, maybe light tic now and then
14061 APM Suite No.6 ... dated 3.56:
- Side 1: vg ... due to little noise at beginning, but the rest actually plays exc
- Side 2: vg/vg due to clicks at beginning first half inch, the rest also plays exc
Collectors and audiophiles will know how extremely rare this first edition 1954-56 record set is in any condition. This is one of the better copies I have seen in many years, and I really enjoyed the music when I playgraded it.
