Original Japanese WHITE LABEL PROMO ONLY Compilation Album issued if that s even the word in conjunction with the planned 1973 tour of Japan.
The legendary lost tour which was, as is well known, cancelled owing to the, um, proclivities of certain members of the band.
This mysterious LP remains one of the few tangible bits of documentation that this tour was to take place, as the tour dates were noted on the back of the sleeve.
Amongst the wide array of hyperbolic overwrought characterizations of items offered for sale on ebay perhaps the most overused is the dreaded ULTRA RARE.
I ll certainly allow that on occasion genuine rarities turn up, but what exactly should the term rare seek to convey? At a minimum, difficult to find.
At the other end of the spectrum, when characterized as ULTRA RARE the difficulty in obtaining a copy ought to verge on hopeless, approaching impossible.
When considerations of condition are taken into account the stakes can be raised exponentially.
Amongst the thousands of Rolling Stones vinyl artifacts produced over the past 50 years if one is to include acetates 50 years would be accurate as of the time of this writing a few have taken on legendary status.
The UK Poison Ivy / Fortune Teller 45, The US Street Fighting Man picture sleeve, a handful of test pressings, The US promo only mono Sticky Fingers, the legendary Satanic Majesties velvet presentation package, a handful of promo s and a few other items.
I d rate the above named as certain to be included in any list of the top 5 rarest official Rolling Stones vinyl artifacts.
This near chimerical Japanese Tour Promotional album can rightfully be claimed to stand amongst them.
So few of these have turned up over the ensuing 39 years that it may well be the rarest Japanese Rolling Stones vinyl release .
Here is a chance to add an excellent condition copy of this elusive disc to your collection.
Condition of the disc is excellent, bright glossy clean.
M- wouldn t be a stretch, I ll very conservatively grade it VG .
No scratches, marks, scuffs or anything at all like that could be seen under bright direct light.
The labels, as the pictures should reveal, are as new.
The fragile light weight card sleeve is quite clean, corners are square and the spine intact.
Both front back covers are clean, with only minimal wear on the front virtually none of the back.
The only issue with the sleeve are two minor dings in the bottom flipback.
The photos accompanying this auction should reveal them.
This promo issue never circulated with OBI, inner sleeve or inserts.
This offering may well prove to be a one time opportunity to acquire this record in excellent condition.
As a google search will reveal previous offerings of this record have been compromised by taped seams and severe foxing.
Neither of those problems exist in this instance.
This disc is marvelously clean, has been in my collection for close to thirty years and may well be the cleanest copy extant.
