Beautiful crystal-clear vocals female and male on an album whose band is named after the castle in The Chronicles of Narnia.
The interesting cover-design by Pete Ryder is also Narnia-inspired and the album features a particularly beautiful version of Hill Climbing for Beginners , originally written and recorded by The Water Into Wine Band.
Another personal favourite track is Just a Beginner .
Another seller described this as Incredibly rare Acid folk/Psyche folk/Xian folk album.
Group members include Maggie Delves with superb vocals, Pete Ryder on vocals and guitar.
Paul Stockdale: guitar and vocals, Sian Harry: keyboards, and Barry Walton on bass and vocals.Pete Ryder was previously involved in the equally rare folk album by Paradise Square.The Cair Paravel recording was made at Fairview Music Studio, Willerby, on 20th March 1976.Arguably the greatest Xian-folk LP ever recorded.

Beautiful delicate British progressive folk custom featuring lovely female lead singing alternating with fragile male vocals that are imperfect yet charming.
This is an exceptional record, on equal footing with classics like Presence and Caedmon.
Several songs combine acoustic guitar and piano for soft melancholy moods, including Just A Beginner , Better Day , the title track, and Hill Climbing For Beginners , the latter a cover of the Water Into Wine Band song.
Other selections like A Song For Judas , Longer And Longer , Sand In My Shoes and Winter Lady build a brisk folky sound, skillfully mixing rhythm and lead acoustic guitar.

Side 1 has one light hairline scratch which does not affect play, and possible faint scuff marks.
Both sides play cleanly with no clicks or interruptions or noticeable background-noise of any kind.
Side 2 looks clean, new , unplayed and very shiny.
The album has been well looked after, is in a plain white inner sleeve and original cardboard cover, stored upright in a clear plastic jacket.
I have had it since its release because I had also had a tape-recording from their Paradise Square album, Never thought I d see the day and was confident I d like it.The stylish brown Koala centre label is completely clean and has no spindle marks or fading.
Writing is white on brown.
On the front there is very slight ringwear from storage.
The spines are great and have no splitting.
The corners show no signs of wear.This is a great copy of a very rare, hard to find LP, and as far as I can tell there are no other copies available anywhere on e-bay at the moment.
Great stereo separation which showcases interesting vocal combinations and instruments.
