I worked in a record shop that specialised in rare records for a number of years where I graded them and started collecting records in the mid Eighties, since then have spent a lot of my spare time and all of my spare money putting together a genuinely impressive collection of Punk, Kraut, Jazz, Experimental, Tropicalia, Psych, NWW list etc .
Over the next couple of years I will be dismantling my record collection and listing in the region of 2000 rare and deleted records. Amongst others I d like to thank Liz Truss and my former employers Dr. Martens for this opportunity.
GRADING: I use UK Record Collector visual grading: .This is the industry gold standard and is far more accurate that the Discogs system which it predates by a good 30 years. All records are viewed under natural and halogen light. Records are never play tested, given I rarely list anything under VG this should not be necessary: I will never list anything with a scratch that feels like it will skip, unless the record is not the main component.
PRICING: I aim to be the cheapest out there, if you see a the same record in the same condition cheaper drop me a message and I will see what I can do.
PACKAGING: All records are now sent in awesome re-enforced fold over style mailers not those ones that bend in when they are sent. Larger orders or more expensive records are double wrapped in a secondary mailer to try and foil even the most excitable delivery guy.
DELIVERY TIME: I aim to get all records out as fast as possible but am only able to mail drop twice a week. This means that if you order the day of a post office trip the record will get to you more quickly. If you order the following day, please allow an extra couple of days. Please note that this is not my full time job.
POSTAGE: I am continuously reviewing the best way of getting records delivered, based on this please do not be surprised if a record comes to your door via a courier different to the one noted in the listing. I will always endeavour to get the record to you as quickly and safely as possible. I am always happy to combine postage at 1 per additional item.
RETURNS: Ebay has a glitch at the moment that means I can t list without the returns accepted button on. I have never visited a used record shop that accepts returns on second hand product, online or otherwise. This said, to clarify, if there are concerns on grading or condition I will gladly discuss and It goes without saying if something is damaged in the post I ll accept a return, otherwise, I can t think of any other circumstances where I would.

If you have an interest in where the records you are looking at originally came from, I documented my exploits extensively for a 5 or 6 year period on my blog: 32rpmblogspot.com. Which contains hundreds of pictures of now long gone record shops and far too many over opinionated reviews of those establishments ...and reviews of the occasional record. NB: This hasn t been updated since I had my last 3 kids
Unrelated to anything in this post, if you have an hour or two to spare you could do a lot worse than watch the mighty Joe Don Baker in any of the following movies: Walking Tall, The Outfit, Charley Varrick and Framed or indeed the TV series Edge of Darkness
